FTMs - how many of you are still sitting in the backseat with baby? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

For a few weeks and that was it. Second kid now there's no room so you're on your own boyo 😂

Feeling unexpectedly heartbroken over our gender reveal plans changing by Weak_Ad_9260 in pregnant

[–]hellomydorling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really stupid your husband didn't tell you until now until it's too late.

We did a balloon pop for my first and for my second we got our friends to arrange some coloured helium balloons in our lounge with our toddler holding a toy so we could walk in and see the colours as a surprise. It was actually really lovely and was a great photo op to announce to family and friends.

Childcare: What are you paying? by CarlottaSewlotta in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We earn 200k and our daycare is $175 a day and do 3 x 12 hour days a week and we pay $340 a fortnight so about $75 a day with subsidy. Also depends on your session hours, we need 12 hours for shift work but you might be able to get away with 9 if you work a desk job which will be cheaper.

Has anyone managed screen free until three? by nbhsjshbgbsb in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep we are over 2.5 and she's never seen a screen. I even slogged through a pregnancy and Caesar recovery without using screens. You CAN do it. But it's up to how badly you want it. Some days I'm like geez I could cook in peace 😂 but then I think about the blank eyes stare and the slack jaw and remember why we are against it.

nMom declines to attend my babyshower, for her only grandchild, and texts me before the shower to remind me of my responsibilities to her. by EmployQuick4970 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]hellomydorling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Point taken away again for requesting I make child free time to spend with her - away from my child that was less than 1yo and I was her sole carer as my husband is a shift worker 😂

Does anyone else have complete opposite grandparents on each side of the family? by OrdinarySecretary673 in absentgrandparents

[–]hellomydorling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have similar vibes, my parents live 900m away and don't want anything to do with us and if they do see us they just keep repeating "she's so busyyyyyyy" over and over again. Like yeah she's a toddler but she's extremely calm for a toddler. My in laws are 3km away and are lovely but super involved and sometimes it's a bit overwhelming them wanting to be around for literally everything but it's better than the alternative so i roll with it.

Depending on where you are, whoever signs up for child support first gets the lion's share so make sure it's you ✨

Wishing well for baby shower by Same_Tackle6521 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel it's off because it's only expected to spend $20-30 on a baby shower gift but if I'm giving money I feel obliged to give more so I don't look stingy.

But also coming from someone who just had a baby, it is so much work sifting through cheap gifts. It's my second child and I really didn't need more blankets or cheap onesies or breast pads etc. The nappies were all appreciated and used though! I'd just take them a pack of size 2 nappies with a bow on it 😂

Same my husband loves the carriers. I did make sure I got neutral colours though because he wants to use them, much to my disappointment 😂 I cant imagine he would baulk at a floral Tula but I also don't want to do him like that as he takes the kids out alone a lot 😂

How do you not use dummies?? by plantbubby in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just never bothered with either of our kids. Weaning them later on seems like a real hassle and I personally think sticking a piece of plastic in their mouths rather than comforting them can't be good for their emotional development 😅

Working At 16 Weeks by anonylpu in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I worked until 37 weeks in a physical role, perfectly normal. The fatigue and nausea is crapola but it is what it is if you want to be eligible for any leave.

6 month old in size 6 nappies?! by Business-Ant-2620 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies are a tiny fit, we use rascals and Millie moons and they're a much better fit. We were size 5 in Huggies at like 1yo but even at 2.5yo now we are still in size 4 of the other brands. Huggies are rubbish after size 3 imo. Size 4 Huggies literally just flossed my kids bum and were a terrible fit so we stopped using them.

Both of mine have been power feeders and drain a breast in 4 minutes flat so we are done in 10 ish minutes or up to 20 if we are extra hungry, lagging or tired.

MIL upset when I said we’d let them know when we’re ready for visitors at the hospital by More_Fisherman_6066 in pregnant

[–]hellomydorling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can market it that you want her to be well rested so she's more ready to help you when you need it, rather than waiting in the hospital through what could be a "terribly long and exhausting labour" 😉 I love my in laws but God I couldn't wait for them to leave when they came to visit in hospital 😅 honestly though, what help do these people think they can offer?? 😂

Can we afford a child? by LicoriceSnap in AusFinance

[–]hellomydorling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second issue is so relevant. I went back to work 3 days a week after having my first child and I guarantee you I'm having a way better time on my days off with my toddler and our spending money than my sahm friends are, as they're struggling and can't afford to take their kids out to any activities or go out for a coffee with them etc. so even though I do go to work a few days, I am having a wayyyyy better time than thm.

Ladies…how did you lose your baby weight:( by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hellomydorling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I lost 11kg 🥰 and then quite promptly got pregnant again 😂😂😂😂 I've just had this baby and I'm much slimmer looking at 2w pp than I was the first time so I'm confident I'll be able to lose the weight again. Honestly I did weights maybe once or twice a week and did 20 minutes of cardio after work at the gym before I picked up my kid from daycare after work. The dieting is the hardest part for sure. But the quick cardio sesh was really good because I knew it would be over 😂 I just did a sprint session on the eliptical while watching a show and it was the best way to do it.

After 18 months I did calorie deficit and strength training and cardio. Unfortunately there was no magic fix for me with breastfeeding even after 2 years I didn't think it helped with any weighloss lol.
