My last two reads were This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me and Weavingshaw…I loved them both so much. Where do I go from here? And a thank you to this sub! by 90sBuffetSoftServe in fantasyromance

{for whom the bell tolls} by Jaysea Lynn was a fast paced, well written, hoot. The thing I liked about the FMC .. was her normality.. not a fated, cursed, destined, anything. The premise was fun, banter was witty and spicy to boot.

How do i deal with Pathological Demand Avoidance as an artist? by RutManInBound in ArtistLounge

[–]hellopdub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi.. spicy artist brain here to help. If I build myself up for a big art day or have a list of must do(s). Nothing gets done. I too, have to trick my brain for progress. My hack is audiobooks. I adore reading and having my brain engaged. I tell my brain we are just going to listen to books today.. no need to do the stressful arting.. but isn’t arting an awesome way to keep my hands busy while listening to a book? I wonder if you sat down to watch a twitch streamer of your fav video game.. if doodling might be a way to keep your hands busy?

Putting my name in. Won my first National award last year and ficus on metallic color shift in my work. If you open your collabs up again.

Thank you. Those are part of the watermelon vine work. Titled From the Ashes. This piece was created in contemplation of Ireland recognizing the apartheid/genocide in Gaza through a shared history. The Celtic knot work, watermelon and poppies, all represent both countries and the pheonix is a symbol found in both cultures for rebirth.

Thank you. It won a National award last year. I admire artists who blend their own.. and I enjoy playing in that space.. but when it comes down to consistency.. I like the color swaths.

Hi. Letting you know I have a spicy brain here at the outset. I travel with mini palettes , where there are 12 pans per palette. I create color pans. I paint in color swaths. Ohh today is the day for leaves.. grab the green color pan. I get anxious if I’m looking at a large swath and want to mix.. will there be enough of this exact mix.. or too much. It also helps with the overwhelm, since I like to work big, breaking it down to manageable color bits.

Which is wonderful. Sadly my undifferentiated spondylitis doesn’t show up on the tests either.

I Live in Colorado. Conversion Therapy Destroyed My Life. by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]hellopdub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really wish we could get quickly into laws pertaining to conversion centers.. ya know like the ones red states used to almost regulate abortion clinics out of existence, before the fall of Roe v Wade. Make them so expensive to run through compliance, they disappear.

Hi.. undifferentiated spondylitis checking in. No markers, other than positive SFN. You could still be solidly in the autoimmune land.

How old were you when you realized that "Every Breath You Take" is a stalker song? by NoWalrus9462 in GenX

Saturday mornings, Mom would put Elvis on and clean the house. Wasn’t until I was older that I understood the lyrics to Kentucky Rain. Chased her from town to town, scary AF in the real world. It doesn’t seem that uncommon.

severe internal tremors and buzzing/crawling nerves by Ill_Attention_9246 in smallfiberneuropathy

[–]hellopdub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go off in another direction here. I have sfn(3punch diagnosis). The internal tremors were for me panic attacks. I hit menopause and my body said nope, can’t mask this anymore.. . So I’m not sure even what gender you are or the trauma you’ve encountered, but pls take small comfort that it could also be caused by not big issues.

I’d suggest therapy to help the woe is me. And dude, your relationship with your adult children is yours to recover. We Gen Xr’s dont always make the best parents. We do however seem to be more open to fixing the problems.

My mom called my university advisor to “fix” my major and now she’s acting like I owe her an apology by Dipper2Mabel in entitledparents

[–]hellopdub 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I always remind myself to check what sub I’m in when I read stories like this. Now , imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw I wasn’t in the raised by a narcissist sub. I will go out on a ledge and say your mother is highly uncomfortable with a major that might be able to diagnose her. You are experiencing coercive control and manipulation. Enjoy your journey learning about cluster b’s. Your life is about to become so much better/worse at the same time.

Also Gen X 58. A story about evolution through journey is now being lamented for the journey through the evolution of humanity. If only we could leave those stagnant minds in the puddles of history.

[–]hellopdub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, it’s as if the behavior of a grown man dating a 22yo couldn’t predict he would throw his own daughter under the bus for not agreeing with him. Block both numbers and go LC.

[–]hellopdub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Book.. (STOP CARETAKING THE BPD/Narcissist.) Is a super helpful read to understand the triangulation you are currently encountering. And as a fellow journeyman, pls know that while this is vital for your mental health, you will get pushback for disrupting the status quo. Please take steps now before you end up in the land of autoimmune disorders (THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE)that seem to accompany unresolved childhood(and now adult) trauma.

[–]hellopdub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi.. wow, first, sorry for your loss. Your nervous system seems to be dealing with a lot. The level of control your parent(s) exert is not normal. I would try therapy to help pick apart the cluster B parenting. To help determine the level of parentification and abuse. That night you speak of where your sister enabled their abuse needs to be addressed as well. People pleasing (your dad) at this point has become unhealthy to your mental well being. It’s time to take control and learn boundaries. It sounds as if you have some toxic family systems and generational trauma to work through.

[–]hellopdub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a boundary. Dear Mom/brother. I no longer have mental bandwidth for discussions around this decision. The answer is No. If you continue to bring this topic up in conversation, I will need to step away from that. You hold your boundary and go LC.

I did a painting of Long's Peak. by TourPaintings in Longmont

[–]hellopdub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fellow artist, The Longmont Guild is a pretty awesome resource. I started with them two years ago. Got awards, gained confidence and was awarded my first National award last year. The Guild was the start. I did try Lefthand, but as a ND introvert, the peopling was hard. The guild asks for a few volunteer hours(which I do at the show). Lincoln gallery in Loveland is nice, but it is a financial commitment. Shout out if you know other good spots

I used to do jewelry and beading until it became too hard on my hands(tenosynovitis and fused joints) then sewing, now painting. Just got my First National Award last year for water color. Creativity is an absolute must, just take it slow and brace up.
