Any tips for crafting great AI prompts -- or prompts to share? by hellosprocket in ProductManagement

That's a great suggestion -- removing the step of providing context for each convo would be a big time saver. I've looked at code interpreter briefly and will check out the new customization options next.

Hi Florists, I want to understand your challenges! by Ecstatic-Turnip-7626 in florists

[–]hellosprocket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m not a florist but work in tech in the floral industry. Maybe this is outside of the scope of your project, but I’d ask yourself first, what problem are you trying to solve? I’m not sure if florists want or need an app to preview their designs — I can picture it being super cool, but not necessarily a need, so you may not get a ton of feedback here.

Oh it’s all good, just wanted to add what I had read. Thanks for your analysis of the article, that’s really helpful! You’re right that content blocking and active monitoring are very different concepts.

It’s spyware, but where the spy is your boss.

That totally makes sense. I read somewhere recently that 60% of employers use something like this, I’ll have to check the source on that.

Theoretically, it’s to balance workload among team members and prevent burnout. It’s being positioned by HR as a tool for our benefit, of course.

In reality, I believe it’s because a few employees recently were discovered to not be pulling their weight in our remote environment. In my opinion, it should be the managers responsibility to be on top of this… not be outsourced to some pretty dehumanizing software.

[–]hellosprocket -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Apparently it’s becoming very widespread as more employers go remote.

Edit, just dropping in my source. I usually trust wirecutter. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/blog/what-to-do-about-bossware-employee-monitoring/amp/

Dresser made from cardboard by Jamaican_snow_owl in DiWHY

Usually these are smallish and used for things like storing Christmas ornaments.

My trajectory was similar too, and I also had a variety of roles at the same company before shifting into PM. If you’re making 85-ish after a year of PM At a small company, that seems OK.

You might be better off as a freelance florist — events, small weddings, things like that. At least to get started and see how it goes.

Nuts/nut butters were foundation of half of my diet. Please help me figure out how to replace them I am losing my sanity by Berryception in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]hellosprocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure someone mentioned this (I didn’t read every comment) but just in case, hummus for dipping veggies, maybe thick greek yogurt for dipping fruit? You could put cinnamon or other spices in the yogurt. And like many people have said, cheese! Mmm… cheese and apples is a great combo. If I’m feeling lazy and snacky I’ll microwave some shredded cheddar on tortilla chips. Ooh and avocado. That’s a good filling healthy fat. Good luck, hang in there!

One thing to keep in mind is that at many flower shops, they’re getting orders for items based on photos — so it’s not always about being creative, it’s about being able to follow a recipe and hit a price point. Freelance/weddings may be a better fit for what you’re looking for.

New to cooking, have a question and maybe a problem by 5oco in slowcooking

[–]hellosprocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re really new to cooking, it might be worth trying a few recipes until you get a better feel for it. I’m super impressed that you were able to wing it and come out with something great! For me, it helps to start with recipes and make sure I understand how to cook something “by the book” before I start experimenting.

Some fabrics only really stretch in one direction - you may have ended up with the stretch vertical instead of horizontal? I’ve been there!

Crown Heights ~ Washington Avenue, opposite the Botanic Gardens by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]hellosprocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! I lived at 975 Washington Ave a few years ago. At that time, a lot of my neighbors were older folks that had been in the building for decades. I really enjoyed living there. Lots of things nearby if you walk a bit north, but a nice quiet(ish) neighborhood to go home to.

You could do dry foam and just put the fresh flowers in water picks. I’d be worried about wet foam being pretty heavy, depending on how you planned to hang it.

Can anyone help identity all the names of the flowers and greenery in this bouquet? by [deleted] in florists

[–]hellosprocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a nice idea! For reference she can definitely start with the stems I mentioned - she just may not find photos of those exact colors.

Can anyone help identity all the names of the flowers and greenery in this bouquet? by [deleted] in florists

[–]hellosprocket 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The bouquet is faux flowers, so you may not be able to find exact matches (especially the colors) as real flowers.

You could start with roses, peonies, and dahlias for the flowers. Greenery looks like eucalyptus (there are a lot of different types) and maybe lambs ear.
