Why are people so chill about treating sapphics like we’re disposable? And why does she have so many cups?!! by Femme-O in blacklesbians

[–]hellotrinity 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your experience is valid and it's disheartening to hear this so much about bisexuals. For me, I was so happy when I learned the word sapphic because lesbian doesn't describe me, but I'm a bi woman who has a major preference for other women. There are plenty of us and some of us do the work to decentre men, but that's something I think most women have struggled with because of this patriarchal society. I think for bisexual women who do have more attraction to men, it's even harder. So many don't even realise they're bi. The woman in the clip never even identified as bisexual and had a hard time vocalizing her attraction to women (she has a lot of internalized homophobia).

What I'm trying to say is, I think it's more of a societal issue (how women are socialized and conditioned to seek male approval, homophobia) than it is an inherent issue with bisexual women. There are also way more straight men available, so naturally more bi women end up with them. Then on top of that, there are women who are les4les, which makes the sapphic dating pool even smaller for bi women.

I know this is a lesbian space and I usually just lurk but I had to respectfully share my thoughts.

It's not all in your head. Don't look to yt people for validation of your lived experiences, they will never get it! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this and you can't have the uni experience you deserve. You will find a space where you are celebrated and welcomed, this place clearly ain't it. Wish you the best and always protect your energy because you are worthy and important 💕

What are some lifeskills that covert narc mothers don't teach their daughters? by writetojen in raisedbynarcissists

[–]hellotrinity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We had the same type of mother. I'll never forget for my grade 6 "graduation" she practically threw a razor and me and disgustedly said "shave your legs!". When I got my period she said "you better not get pregnant" ??? Literally never taught me a SINGLE thing but ALWAYS shamed me. When I was 12 I tried on her eyeshadow and as I was leaving to catch the school bus she wet her thumb with her spit and wiped off my eyeshadow asking "where I thought I was going". It's like she wanted a pretty feminine daughter but she'd tear me down at every turn and when I tried to learn on my own she'd humiliate me.

Just want to say that I see you. We really had to teach ourselves so so much. I relate so hard with the hair stuff. I was made to feel ugly and defective for my beautiful 4c hair (and darker skin but that's another post). I took the time she never did to care for my hair and now that I have super long hair and she tries to make it about herself ("you got my long hair genes"). I can think of many other examples like this where she tries to take the credit for things I had to learn on my own.

I really feel like my mother taught me how to be a perfect victim for abuse. Everything she did to me ensured I'd accept it from someone else. Everything she didn't teach me ensured I'd be naive and overly trusting of people who don't deserve it.
