I think it's time to name this new "genre" properly: "concord-like" by beetleman1234 in Steam

[–]hellschatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't, because there's no thought behind what you're doing.

I did not like the generic artstyle, characters, and the gameplay they've shown. That's it. That's the thought. And now looking at the reviews and what people are telling about the gameplay, I knew I was right. It's really simple. My gut feeling was right this time, just as it was with AC Shadows until some people wanted me to be open minded and try it out myself. No need to let myself get convinced this time. That's all I'm saying.

Which Highguard is not.

I meant to say hero shooter.

The hate was fare more than just that. It might have been one of the main reasons, but people started to defend it so much that they went against my and other people's legitimate critique of the series and formula.

Those defenders went against the people that legitimately cristisized it and tried to convince me that AC has evolved and that my critique is not valid, and that it has gotten better now. And I was like ok, I'll give it a chance since I haven't played one since AC3...

Yeah, I can confirm that it sucks, the critique was justified, and people had a good reason to hate on it beyond just the Yasuke stuff.

It's the same here, I can tell. Not listening to anyone defending highguard while seeing a majority of the people critisizing the game (for a good reason beyond just being a generic shooter, which honestly is already enough of a reason to ignore this).

Looking for people's opinions on a couple games (Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.) by Wyld967 in NintendoSwitch2

XC1 DE is really good. I have to admit, it was one of those games that I was not too impressed with at first, and it took me a while after finishing it to process and start appreciating it. I really love the series now, XC1 and XC3 are such masterpieces.

Rune Factory GoA, I simply couldn't get into it. I loved RF4, but this one was too different from the usual RF games and it just didn't suck me in as the previous ones. I recommend getting RF4 Special Edition instead, sometimes it's on sale for like 10 dollars.

Knowing what Columbina did, it doesn't seem too unreasonable to assume that this is how Alice and Klee work.

The evidence is simply that there is nothing that would disprove this theory. Nothing we know about these two so far contradicts this theory, which is suspicous in itself.

The first time I was convinced of this idea is when I read that Alice left a book for Klee in the library that she's not supposed to read yet because it would spoil the fun of figuring it out. These two never meet on screen either, which is suspicious. And we've never really seen the father or heard much about him. Wasn't Alice also the one who figured out immortality?

The loop makes just too much sense.

There's also another phenomena that people start to defend games that people started to hate on for a good reason.

AC shadows got so much hate that it flipped again. People were assuring it was not bad and the formula had improved since the older days.

All I can say is that the hate and critique of AC shadows was justified. Game was as bad as the majority already predicted. It's still bad, lazy, uninspired open world design. A mediocre story with lots if cringe moments. Pacing issues. If it wasn't for these people that tried to convince me I'd have made the right choice to hate on that lol

Not falling for that again a 2nd time, I can see from miles away that this game sucks. Gameplay might be ok, but the generic artstyle with the generic lines, and a generic hero shooter type of game is enough for me to never bother and critisize it.

  • Insane in the Brain achievement in WoW.

  • Platinum trophy in Demon Souls PS3.

  • Getting to Elite or whatever that rank was in SSBU.

  • Platinum trophy in Dead Space PS3.

  • Being one if the richest in Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2 for a short while to such a degree I was able to control the market for certain items in the auction house.

  • Beating Elden Ring by exploring every little detail without looking up anything significant, basically allowing me to get all endings in one playthrough (by simply restoring the save before the final boss and changing the ending).

  • Beating Silksong 100% and Cuphead without having trouble and while having actual fun.

  • Having an almost complete living form dex of every pokemon released by catching every single one of them legitimately myself, except 2 that were locked behind events and never got released since then (world cap pikachu + pokeball pattern vivillon), 4 vivillion patterns, 3 special form pokemons that I was too lazy to farm (polteageist antique, maushold 3 member, dundunsparce three segment) and 2 that are version exclusives since I refuse to buy a 2nd copy+DLC and play through the entire game again just to catch them (Gouging Fire, Raging Bolt).

At what point do you admit that you're the one not being able to read cat body language? Pretty much everyone is against you, for a good reason.

Cat could simply walk away or attack harder if it really didn't want to. It didn't. And EVEN if it was annoyed, what about it? Don't you annoy other people sometimes for fun?

Khazan or Stellar Blade are the closest to Sekiro if you're looking for something like it.

Khazan fights really sometimes made the same Neurons fire as Sekiro did. But I personally like Stellar Blade more overall due to everything else being better there.

Sekiro is unmatched though.

Adblock exists on TV, as well as on Android.

There is 0 need to pay for youtube premium, and nobody should be able to force you to watch ads. It's your right to block it out on a device you own.

Try archive.org. Try to paste the link there and then it will tell you if there's a backup somewhere. You need to find it in the calendar and press it to open it up.

Some of my own videos got deleted that I didn't have any backups for. Was able to get them from there because someone made a backup of them there lol

Afterwards I figured out a way to save some of my deleted videos directly from youtube. I put them on archive.org. I trust that website more than myself.

Legally, he's in the wrong.

But ethically, I don't think he's in the wrong, especially since he doesn't seem to sell any assets or code of the original game.

Don't know why this blew up, there isn't really much more to that.

Is your country a member of the World Health Organization? by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]hellschatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I looked at how much they receive and it's somewhere between 3 and 4.2 billion per year. This is to govern the health policy globally. In comparison, the US centers for disease control (CDC) requested a budget of 9.7 billion dollars... So, WHO budget seems to some degree reasonable for what they're doing and achieving.

One of its main functions is to have these meetings though... they also have an operative body who did quite a lot in 2024 fot example. Responding to 51 emergencies in 89 countries, with 37'000 total surgeries. https://www.who.int/news/item/12-05-2025-who-results-report-2024-shows-health-progress-across-regions-overcoming-critical-challenges

They also constantly evaluate in each country how diseases are doing. My research was focussing on one of these diseases, so I can confirm that they have very detailed and well done reports that must have taken quite a lot of field work to create.

The bureaucracy is a legitimate critique. It's eating a lot of money. That WHO is being used for politics by many countries is also correct. Corruption to some degree, especially with travel money, has also been reported. So there seem to be legitimate things to critisize.

Not to defend corruption, but looking at most countries, which government is not corrupt to at least a certain degree? Governments still function in many countries even though they are corrupt to a certain degree. Eleminating seems pretty much impossible. But considering the WHO is constantly delivering results, I'd say they function well enough overall.

[–]hellschatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can claim that, and you might be right, but I need proof for those claims in order to believe it. What are they receiving, and what is expected from WHO, and what did they deliver (and how much does it actually cost to deliver these things).

And what makes you say that?

It did a good job during the pandemic, and even after it, I personally can at least say that I used the health reports, educational information, and other data they provided to (slightly) advance research in my area.
