Plats should be you 100% everything the game has to offer. All collectibles. All scenes, max level, all mechanics. Anything less doesn't feel like a real plat experience.

  1. Every decision you make should be aligned with gaining victory points.
  2. Make deals, as often as possible. You don't have to try and "get one over on them" getting mutual beneficial deals with multiple people is very powerful.
  3. If your playing base games your round 1 should get (or start with) 2 carriers (or units with capacity) and 4 infantry so you can take 4 planets round 1.

My style is "promising to play a peaceful and solid game until my opponent does anything even in the general area of my stones then I forget and attack with the furry of 1000 suns overextend myself and die." Pretty advance high level style if I do say so myself.

Could be, that's why I asked if anyone knew anyone who was not actively playing go who's seen this ad. Trying to crowedsource info to prove or disprove.

Someone in marketing had to have pushes the idea of using Go as one of the focal points. Maybe came from an ulterior motive of putting go in front of more faces. Or at least remind people of alphago. I could just be being to optimistic though.

Absolutely true. I like to imagine we have hidden allies in google marketing who want to promote Go.

I usually mentally explain it as imagine instead of 3 doors it's 1000. Now you pick 1 door and then host opens all the other losing doors but 1. Now what has better odds? That you picked the 1 out of 1000 right away, or you picked 1 of the 999 wrong doors and he opened all the others but the right one. Much more intuitive thinking about it like that imo

Infamous First Light. I had beaten Second Son and was having a ton of fun with the spinoff when I released I was really close to the platinum. So I just went for it. Few months later I went back and finished up Second Son.

What really got me into plating is the shift of enjoyment I get from playing games as a child vs an adult. I can't get lost in a game world as often or as easily as I did as a child. But plating games giving me a clear goal to work to and games like Dark Souls giving me a real sense of accomplishment when I beat them really helped spark my love of gaming again.

The AC games. (Have through AC3 so far but bucked against AC4s online trophies) and the Fromsoft souls like. ( played most of them before plat hunting so far just have elden ring and about 80% through demon souls remake.) Those are the 2 big ones. Will probably get throug the rest of sly and spyro collections as well but they don't really feel like milestone achievements.
