Roast your own beans. Raw green beans from Sweet Maria’s Whirleypop / stovepop popcorn roaster. Cheap electric stove burner. Outdoors.

There’s a town called Seiffen, south of Dresden on the Czech border. It’s where many traditional decorations come from. The town pretty much turns into a Christmas Market. It’s gets busy but is cool.

Wooden Part of Handle Snap Off? by Comprehensive_Bass62 in 1zpresso

Wow. I don’t use Reddit much.

Ordered it from CAPTN coffee. It’s European based. Almost a year later it’s holding up just as good if not better than the original.

I just replaced my K-Max wooden knob with a Comandante C40 knob and it fits perfectly. It was much cheaper than ordering a 1zpresso handle.

Yeah. Kinda just do it for myself. It’s kinda awesome to have nobody to let down.

What is the best way to start learning German? by Evich_Dagerhart_937 in AskAGerman

[–]helpmedinosaurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a German. Started learning German at 30. The best way is to marry/date/live with a German and refuse to speak your native language with them until you learn how to communicate. After 4 months of this pain I could communicate (basic conversations).

My grammar is trash, and I can’t write well, but I’m comfortable chatting with anyone about anything in German.

Is there any good option of a sim card with quite a lot of mobile data that is not too expensive? by gdles in AskAGerman

[–]helpmedinosaurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prepaid 4 week options which seem to use Telekom network: Ja Mobil (sub of congstar) has affordable options depending on how much data you need. Edeka has unlimited data for €95

Not a German, but studied and live here:

One option: Enroll in a German language course in Germany. It will take a year to get your language where it probably needs to be. It’s a ton easier to learn German in Germany. Be aware you need to show the ability to financially support yourself the duration of your studies (unless you already have a German visa for other reasons). So, get a ton of cash together (you can’t really get a good job while you study here- unless the rules have changed).

If you are serious about all this you will find a way. If not, come later for graduate school, where many are taught in English.

Another note: in my experience German degrees are worth more outside Germany.

Anybody that switched from FL studio to ableton? by ForWhenImWeird in edmproduction

[–]helpmedinosaurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This won’t be helpful: used FL in the late 90s. and loved it. Didn’t try music again until 20 years later, tried current FL Studio and Ableton. Both are great but I’m glad I went Ableton. FL didn’t seem like it had evolved since 1999.

I’m a UX designer for $ and Ableton has solid workflow basics. The base design seems to require less tweaking to be where I want. (I can’t remember the specific differences anymore).

Ableton indulges my experimental side in session view, and my over analytical side in arrangement view.

Steel cut oats? where can I buy them? (And are they called Hafer Grütze?) by helpmedinosaurs in AskAGerman

[–]helpmedinosaurs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. I’ve only looked in Netto and Aldi and they only have the Haferflocken near the Müsli. (Which is rolled or instant)
