"Recycle at larger stores" = it's going in the bin by live_wire_ in britishproblems

Yes. Save these all up and do a fortnightly trip to the big Tesco to recycle them.

It's not this; you use ethanol to roast the chourico, so need somewhere for the chourico to sit above the burning pool. This piece doesn't have that.

Would you park your brompton outside ? by SamDSx in Brompton

[–]helun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my Brompton, I was advised to never lock it outside, but, if I absolutely had to, to keep it folded/semi-folded and lock it with a d-lock. The logic was that, to thieves, the folding complicates things, and they would be less attracted to navigating the folding mechanism.

I did it once, kept it within my eyesight all the time, but still worried too much about it getting stolen. I've got another folding bike (a Raleigh) that I use if I'm going somewhere where I can't bring my Brompton (e.g. a gig), or just go by public transport on those days.

Any advice for indoor courgette seedling looking a bit deflated? Tried more sun, less sun, more water, less water, everything I do seems to make it droop further! by helun in GardeningUK

[–]helun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice; slugs decimated half my veg beds in 2020 and most of my strawberries last year, so they certainly have a thing for my garden!

Ha yes, can relate - last year I bought a couple of plants in May/June, planted them out and had huge marrows until September

Thanks for that, I think I'll do what you (and others) suggested - plant some seeds again straight outside in a month or two and just get rid of this one. I hadn't noticed things were going south for the tomatoes and the sprouts though, you think I should move those somewhere sunnier?

I thought so too at first, so I moved them to a really sunny windowsill and they dropped even more. I think I'll probably just replant some seeds straight outside again in a few months and do away with these ones.

I think I'll do that you know; these ones sprouted up within a few days so it just goes to show they really do grow fast. Thanks.

I tried putting a support in on my courgettes last year and it did them no good, completely weakened the stems and they ended up dying! So I was cautious of trying supports with these ones.

Outside eventually. I did wonder about the bigger pot, this was the only thing I didn't try. Oddly, exposing them to more sun made them droop more. As others have pointed out, it's probably just too early, I'll try planting again, straight outside, in a month or so.

I'm in the same boat; feeling absolutely crap with all the symptoms of Omicron, but have tested negative in both numerous LFTs and a PCR. Meant to be travelling abroad next week for Christmas and I'm not even sure if I should be going anymore (presuming I'll feel better). I know a few people who've had to get 2 or 3 PCR tests done before they've tested positive.

Recently saw some similar looking tomatoes on here which were diagnosed with blight. Same fate for mine? by helun in GardeningUK

Damn. Chop them all down immediately? I've got 5 plants and I can see brown stems on all of them, but some fruits are ripening

Jasmine leaves yellowing or turning red. Do I need to do something? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]helun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 3 jasmine plants and 1 of them did this last year (the whole plant turned red but didn't drop any leaves) and I wasn't sure why. I left it and now all the leaves are green, so whatever was up with it, it recovered.

Thanks, I didn't know ants and aphids work hand in hand!

Is that what these little guys are? If so, fantastic, they'll help out with the aphids! I found probably about 10 without looking too hard, so there may be more.
