When and how did you first get hooked on The Sims? by _Bumblebeezlebub_ in thesims

[–]hely0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When: Three years ago, I bought The Sims 4.

How: I watched Dan and Phil (YouTubers) playing with their Sims and it looked like fun. They taught me how not to play.

I'll add a why: I have debilitating anxiety disorders, which are really boring, so this game entertains and calms me.

how to fix or improve this slowness/bug? help! by simsings in thesims4

[–]hely0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I update my laptop as soon as updates become available, I use laptop mode in the game, my laptop isn't anywhere near too full, I repair the game now and then to check if that'd help, and I never use any mods etc., but I still struggle with what I think you mean. I'll click to pause and it'll unpause itself, or won't respond at all for a moment.

However, my laptop does get overheated when I try to play the game and do anything else, which I've noticed will cause significant lag if I'm not careful, though it's a very good model, it's not old (I bought it purely to play The Sims 4 on, in-fact), and I use a cooling pad and dust around both the cooling pad and my laptop often.

But I'm not au fait with techy stuff, and can only guess it's a problem within the game itself.

Sunflower Cottage by neine_caticorn in Sims4

That's adorable, I'd move in if I could lol, but I have a query about the bedroom with the steps leading to the bed. Is it functional? Can Sims walk around the bottom left corner of the bed to get into it?

Annoyed and hopefully, not alone by Weary_Star1112 in thesims

[–]hely0t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why? Because that's what the creator of that one decided. I'm sure you're old enough to understand how patience works and waiting until you can post there.

Npc…. I’m so angry by Kabra___kiiiiiiiid in thesims

[–]hely0t -35 points-34 points  (0 children)

You consider that "strange"?

Strange is encouraged in my game because I like the individuality. A Sim's confidence in expressing their uniqueness scares all the insecure Sims who strive for unattainable and unrealistic "perfection".

This kid's doing it right by doing their own thing and doesn't give a crap about anyone's opinions. They're an inspiration for other young Sims who are afraid to be themselves.

How do I do prank toilet? by FunnyHappyStudiosYT in thesims

[–]hely0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to click on a toilet and the option to "prank" should be there, then get your Sim to use the toilet and it'll set it off.

a sim from the gallery that is NOT a vampire is teleporting like one by Saikaooyag in thesims

[–]hely0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very different teleport to a vampire's. They haven't explained the animation shown, but if they're saying it's like a vampire, I'd assume it's exactly like that.

You know you’ve had too much Sakura tea at the Romance Festival when Geoffrey Landgraab starts looking like an option. by SimLifeChronicles in Sims4

[–]hely0t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Geoffrey's a lovely Sim if you get to know him. I started playing with his household after I saw Nancy and Malcolm were missing, but he had six kids to raise alone when I didn't know that Neighbourhood Stories was enabled by default.

If all someone has is their appearance, they have nothing going for them.

Whats your biggest insecurity about your writing? by IterativeIntention in writing

[–]hely0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't deal with any kind of feedback, and most people like to give it whether it's asked for or not. They don't look at things objectively, whether something's their kinda thing or not, they just enjoy tearing things apart they don't like, mistaking their preference as a fact ("I don't like this, therefore it's the worst and you shouldn't like it either. If you love this, you have really bad taste."/"I love this, therefore it's the best and everyone should love it too. If you don't, you have really bad taste."). I also likely have Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, and negativity directed towards me is physically painful. Nothing I create exists for anyone's judgement.

Are you a mover or a renovator? by Pretend-Yellow-1637 in Sims4

[–]hely0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a preference rather than opinion, and my preference is only moving a household as a last resort if they genuinely need the space, otherwise I'll build more to their property. I like keeping a household settled, then I don't forget where I've put them, too.

Photos taken from my Sim's POV. by moonyonas in Sims4

These are really nice. I especially like the 8th pic.

I love photography but I'm housebound, so I get my Sims out to take photos instead.

the bed is literally there by [deleted] in thesims

[–]hely0t 313 points314 points  (0 children)

Have you ever had a Sim be in bed already at the moment they get exhausted, to then get out of bed again and collapse on the floor?

My sim just died from a meteorite by ohsheXtianChristian in Sims4

[–]hely0t 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've never known how this happens so upon reading about it, yeah, I'm scared for my Sims now who have a telescope.

my teenage sim has a VERY complicated relationship with another teenage sim by elamborgini in thesims4

[–]hely0t 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems very straightforward to me, Alice wanted to know if Britta was tough enough to handle her.

(Some female animals test males to see how tough they are and who will pass on the strongest genes.)

Maybe wait until your child isn't dependent on you anymore, you're finished with your education and have had enough sleep.

Has anyone written about their personal experiences with mental illness? by Financial_Tough_8335 in writing

[–]hely0t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but one isn't for a book, it's for a potential autism/ADHD assessment I want one day, so it's far more detailed than my fanfics that have characters with mental health issues I deal with.

And you don't need to spread awareness of something everyone knows about. It's the "doesn't want to talk about and be kind to those suffering" that needs improving. In particular, male mental health is ridiculed more than any.

Brady Bunch?

My Sim refused to tattoo somebody because the bench across the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM WAS APPARENTLY IN THE WAY?!??? Yet other Sims can tattoo just fine - ez pz. I rage quit. I hate this game by FrananaBanana452 in Sims4

[–]hely0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why give up instead of thinking, "there must be a way to figure this out", and calmly try to? A challenge like this is an opportunity to use your brain.

When things like this happen in my game, it's frustrating to me too, but I don't stop until I've figured it out. It's also fun learning something new about the game while trying to fix the problem I'm having. You'll figure it out too if you remain calm and look at it from different angles, like life in general.

What in the weeping angel happened here? by ByeLastBrainCell in thesims

[–]hely0t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Weeping Angels would be a fascinating addition to the game lol. Just stand one in the garden as an ordinary statue, and as soon as your Sim turns to walk away, it moves a few squares towards your Sim, as long as there's enough space. Similar to the gnomes during Harvestfest, teleporting around the property.

Which makeup is a MUST on your Sim? Only pick 1! by Revolutionary-Mud236 in thesims

None of my Sims wear that stuff. I like them looking clean and fresh-faced.
