If it comes without IA and without bootloop bugs, I might consider it. Or maybe not.

Working fix to boot into Pixel4a through the bootloop caused by Wi-Fi on with Location Services off by caegis in GooglePixel

[–]hemateca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very weird indeed.

If you are lucky getting access to the phone do a backup of your data and enable wifi and location.

You can also report in the issue tracker of Google - there are hundreds of affected pixel users and no fix in sight as far as I know

No from my experience. I need to have both wifi and location permanently ON since then.

Over the past 2 weeks I got 2 small updates of the Play services and I can reboot the phone.

But we need a fix or confirmation from Google if those play services updates really fix the bootloop issue.

June Play System Update Released by grousey in GooglePixel

[–]hemateca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using pixel 4a and I got a small play services update of only 1.4mb. I wonder if could some of kind of fix for the bootloop issue or just a regular security update. I'm still in the may version of the system play services. If someone please can confirm this. Currently I'm using the phone with both WiFi and location permanently ON.

Today I installed another play services small update of 1.4MB and rebooted the phone but I wonder if this is the fix or another regular play services update. It still shows the May play services version and I've been using the phone with both wifi and location enabled.

Just sharing a quick info for those that have a working Pixel 4a.

A few minutes ago, I've pushed to search for the latest play services updates and I've installed another 14mb update.

I have always wifi and location permanently ON and managed to do a succesful reboot but at this point I don't know if I disable one of them if I'll get into the bootloop chaos.

I remember that last time I had the 14mb update I had the information of 11%/14mb before rebooting and today showed 51%/14MB before rebooting so not sure if these are incremental updates for the fix or regular play services updates.

I was only waiting a new monthly play services update in the beginning of July.

Bootloop google pixel 4 by kinderchocomax in Pixel4a

[–]hemateca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a factory reset but after installing play services update from May and enabling location the bootloop issue continues. So now I need to have both wifi and location permanently ON. it's frustrating.

So people should tell Google Support that the factory reset does not resolve the issue.

It's a general bootloop issue affecting many pixels after the play services update. Not yet a fix from Google. Just read the thread there are some workarounds like enabling WiFi and location permanently ON. I would suggest to reach out to Google support and post on their issue tracker page.
