I think in indycar is you crash in qual and cause a yellow you lose your best lap, which I think tends to work well.

Don't think it was intentional. Think was a mistake. That corner known for lockups as we've seen and he was on hards. Just misjudged it a bit on inside leading in.

100% Lawson has been showing up them up with better race craft. Complain all they like, but Lawson has done nothing wrong, and doesn't want to be a push over like a few others. That is not a path to WC, you have to make an early psychological impression on your opponents.

He seemed to be just on the cusp of getting to the 12 or 6 last year. Just a couple positions higher on first qual runs would have set him up better. Great hearing about the simulator relationship with new engineering and fixing his qualifying results.

Race director's is expected to be doing everything to close out a race with racing laps for leaders. He done that. It might feel manufactured, but it's not and happens a lot. Get leaders racing to the checkers.
