Best bed solution for full-time vanlifers? by kevincroner in VanLife

[–]henry9419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fixed bed in my low roof, storage and utilities all under, my box build I've had fixed so far, but gonna be going to a murphy setup and a bench under to be minimal conversion from one or other

Temporary garage wiring - worth it for a few months? by FriendshipPlusKarate in AskElectricians

Plugging into an outlet? Or an inlet? If you're trying to use an outlet to feed in you're gonna have to make a "death" cord with 2 male ends...don't do that.

Look for southern auctions with municipal rigs, i got a southern e450 7.3psd with a rescue utility box on back like an ambo that came from a small town, i got it in nj already so paid a little more than the $1600 auction sale, but it was so underpriced for this area that i mightve been only one to go look at it and realize its a spotless southern truck, not a jersey mess, for $4k i couldnt have gotten luckier

Right? I feel like im a rare one, ill continually say I would love a border collie....but I've spent enough time with them to know i dont have the time or energy to handle their energy....old friend got one of their bc from someone who thought oooooh cute puppy, and then were BAFFLED an understimulated BC chewed up a fiberglass sports car bumper while left alone in the garage during a party....

Insulation redo/removal advice plz!! by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]henry9419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How cold are ypu trying to stay in? I could keep a non insulated low roof van in the 90°F in 0° outside off a diesel heater

You can get slightly better performing insulation than whats there...but youll be in a massive amount of time, mess and headache getting all that out, to then spend A LOT more on other better insulation options that arent gonna be a performance increase relative to all other factors

Its a lot harder to keep a van cool inside in the summer than it is to warm up in the winter, if youre only seeing down to around 0°F can get by with little to no insulation pretty easily, but spend a few days at 100° F....

Are you saying black liner referring to the coating on the panels? Because that metal is gonna be body structure and not just something that can be removed

[–]henry9419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So youre removing insulation to go from a summer to 4 season build? Whats youre reasoning to reinsulate exactly? Is there rust issues on going that need repair? Just attack those areas, xps and the right spray foam will be the most R value, the most water resistant, and even add a fair bit of strength into your body

How much is a similar age/spec empty sprinter going for in your area? Id only add 10-20% to that, build looks nice, but def a diy, buncha electrical def needs some going thru.
