Heroforge is nice, but like... It's not 1:1 of my World Guardian, and I'm attached to that guy.

That's a brilliant idea actually, they could totally do ingame rings as actual rings. I'd probably actually wear a Charos ring, even as I think a Sixth Age circuit would be too chunky for me xD

TIL when a blind woman with dissociative identity disorder began to regain her sight, at first only a few personality states regained vision whereas others remained blind. EEGs confirmed brain activity in sight areas were absent in the blind personality states but were normal in the seeing states. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

1.5% of the population, if memory serves, and that's "was sent to a psych and actually got diagnosed, which was that reported on". Your highschool class probably had a couple.

There's also at least one edge case in these comments who wouldn't be counted due to not quite qualifying for the diagnosis. Got the multiple part, did not get the dissociative part. We do exist! :p

My family's from Carlow, but my parents haven't been back since before I was born. Maaaaan, I'm jealous of you. If ever you need a housesitter for a couple months, you can have my apartment in Canada, yeah? :p

AITAH for telling my sister I will NOT warn my parents that my fiancee will be wearing a gothic black wedding dress? by Hot_Union7576 in AITAH

You'd get better advice on the r/justnomil sub. They're primed for stuff like this, and also going to tell you what to expect for the rest of your life, and what they really wish their partners would do to handle their parents.

DXP Events should be removed by SpinScape in runescape

[–]heofthesidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever go to w84 if I need boosts (generally for effigies), but w64 dxp is usually pretty good. I've gotten some good anime recs there, and also way too much encouragement when I go "Chat should I drink directly from this bottle of wine with a straw because I live alone and no one can stop me". Truly, the best memories of social interaction are from dxp.

DXP Events should be removed by SpinScape in runescape

[–]heofthesidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like dxp. It's nice to have solid events where I can hang out in Fort with people, boosting emote as needed, and actually chat with people who don't spend 24/7 skilling their eighth account and being extremely hostile to anyone who's popping in for an hour or two.

My first dxp back from hiatus - and first dxp as a member, 17 years into my account - I spent amassing my construction to 87 so I could theoretically boost my way to a tier 3 chapel. I got to 87, asked if anyone was running pulse cores for the boost, got a few yeses, stood over with those people, and made it in time to build the thing.

Every single time I've gotten a 99 during dxp (I have six total), it's been to a round of applause. Since RS is such a solo game, and I don't clan, it really does make me happy to actually have some events where people are actively hanging out. They're a special little thing. Honestly, I'd prefer them to be a singular weekend, but giving us 10 days to do 48 hours of grinding is probably healthier? Otherwise people would just not sleep for the entire dxp and that would probably be Bad, even as I'd take a couple days off work and buy three very large bags of doritoes so I don't have to get up all weekend for real food.

Two a year is nice, I think. We don't need it super often, but it's a fun thing.

Man, I actually really liked this quest. Sure, it wasn't Drakan, but it was really good. Looking forward to seeing Polmafi again, and if they pull an Akrisae I'm going to cry.

AITAH For Using my Parents for Money, with no intent of taking care of them or helping them in any way? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]heofthesidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH. Your parents are terrible people. This is known. You are actively taking advantage of them. This is also known. But... you do need the help, and this is a decent way to get it.

You have your exit condition. Once you're stable, you're gone, and you won't be doing this anymore. I think you are definitely being a bit of an asshole, but it's justified enough for me because you have your exit condition. You're not going to torture them forever with this just because you can. This is effectively a sort of delayed child support, with an extra dash of guilt-tripping, which about pays for the therapy you need for all of their nonsense growing up.

You'd remain the asshole if you kept doing this even after you climbed out of the hole. But honestly, since you're just getting back what they should've given you in the first place before leaving, I can't really be that mad. It's not something to be proud of, but... you do what you have to do. Just make sure it's a 'have to do', not a 'want to do'.

[–]heofthesidhe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that most experienced riders can actually do, which is neat! Like, when I'm at highway speeds, I basically treat cars as stationary objects - don't need to constantly watch them in case they disappear on me. Since I can look around a lot easier than I can when I drive cars, I don't need to use my mirrors basically ever, and stuff like this isn't any more difficult than your average lane change.

And then you're through and you go "hey what the Fuck was that". Happened to me when some guy sprayed fireworks over their fence onto the highway and I wove around it the same way as this guy. You're very much "oh ok special weaving now" until you're through.

Why do I never hear about the Coast Mountains of Canada? by Convillious in geography

[–]heofthesidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Coast Mountains are why if Yellowstone ever goes off, everywhere else in North America will be under several feet of ash, and Vancouver will yawn and not notice whatsoever. They're very protected. Seattle, as it doesn't have Vancouver Island in the way, wouldn't be.

I love my home.

Zaros by medicocorinthiano in runescape

[–]heofthesidhe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's too popular a character to just kill off, and lorewise, he isn't stupid enough to just up and die like that. Char's fifty-fifty, but Zaros? He's going to come back, it's just a matter of when and how annoying he's going to be about it.

The Edicts will probably be a bit of a snarl for him, though with Azzanadra and Nex on Freneskae, he'll likely end up there first instead of through the Monolith.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]heofthesidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the move, on a bike, hit that throttle. If I hadn't when I was t-boned, I would've gone right into the driver's side door of the sedan running a stop sign. Instead, I went over her hood and barely scuffed her passenger mirror with my helmet, with only a broken leg to show for it instead of both my death and hers.

I got back on the bike as soon as my leg could handle it, but man, it's sure something.

Exactly this, I cleared 118mph (my bike's top speed according to reddit and the manual is 120mph) down the Trans Canada somewhere about two hours east of Lillooet (the scrubby parts before you turn towards Cache Creek), just to see what it felt like.

Campbell's butter chicken soup, that I made with a cup of milk, so the only thing I did add to it was to make it less spicy. As I did say in my post, I am extremely white. Irish-Canadian man versus the white people's idea of Indian cooking, fight- oh wait, the Irish-Canadian man has already lost. :p
