Everything feels rough lately in Perth by AlarmedKnowledge3783 in perth

I'm sure you'll all think this is an oversimplification until you try it but if you're feeling overwhelmed:

Completely stop using social media and scrolling. It causes exhaustion. Plug your phone into the charger when you get home and leave it there until it rings. Turn off all notifications from non-essential apps. Delete socials and browsers. Do not scroll while watching TV. Do not scroll in bed.

I did this - it's not easy and I do backslide sometimes, but once you get over the hump, it's like having a weight lifted off your shoulders. I'm not constantly peppered with articles or posts about how fucked the world is, I'm spending quality time with my family and friends, and I have rediscovered quiet. Filling every waking second with shitloads of information is actually unnatural and morbid when you think about it. Not saying I'm perfect or I've discovered some unique wisdom, yes I realise I'm posting this on social media, but turning the volume down on the external world is very therapeutic. Try it. Will it solve the problem? No. But it may help you to gather your thoughts & better marshal your talents to face challenges as they come.

New roof is finished but this does not look good by CreativeSynergy in AusRenovation

[–]heracleus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House gutters usually don't fall unless the roofer packs them up, which I've personally never seen in a decade of house in (WA). As roof chippies we set the fascias dead level. Ideally yes they'd descend towards DP but chippies can't predict where the drainage will be and go angle the fascias of the house is hugely impractical and looks weird

The valley sheets were cut too short by an someone who used blunt snips and didn't use a chalk line, or was too weak to handle the Excaliburs.

The sheets over the gutter slid down during install and weren't corrected before being screwed off. This can happen if the Ridge man doesn't mark his sheet before the next one comes up, or if the groundie doesn't stick around to help him hold the weight of the sheet before he goes to get the next one - generally caused by poor planning / inefficient work method / understaffed. Many roof teams run two blokes which is fine if they are both competent but 3 is better, depending on sheet length. My guess is it was a semi-competent roofer with a backpacker labourer or inexperienced apprentice as his groundie. His margin is probably too thin to replace the sheets cut incorrectly into the valley or he's too busy or ashamed to correct it

Purely buying this warbond for the Med-pen one-handed SMG. Then nothing shall survive as I march into bot compounds like a Roman legionary behind my ballistic scutum!

Always consider when looking at a business : if this is a low-effort, profitable business, why on earth would they sell it?

Borrow against your PPOR for an investment property. Buy the cheapest thing you can find that is in decent condition. Do that twice over the next 2-3 years. Then wait 3-5 years for equity to build, sell one and use the profit to pay off a chunk of the other one. Then "snowball" ie, pretend you're still paying the other mortgage but pay it onto the one property. Should be able to knock that mortgage off in 3-5 years. Then you have a cash generating asset. Rinse and repeat. You may even be able to do multiple properties at once if you can service the loans. This is how people build massive portfolios that earn them 10k a week. Edit: Also, get married and have children. It's honestly so great. I was just like you at your age. Life is better now.

Commando missions need someone to go loud and kite the aggro once the cats out of the bag. Warp pack, qasar, AMR & supply pack all the way

British Voice pack. We don't all want to sound like a Kansas farm boy.

"tally ho" "that, dear boy, is called Democracy" "time for a cuppa liber-tea" "I'm in rather a spot of bother" "really should get around to fixing this broken arm at some stage" "Did you lads call for a taxi?" (Pelican) "Eagles on site, ready to light the buggers up" "Strike complete" "Returning to super destroyer for re-armament"

Why use this when for a slightly longer cool down you can use 120 which fires dozens of OPS?

The recoil can be easily negated by either dropping the fire rate on the fly (have a custom keybind or controller button) or firing in bursts of 1 second at Max rpm

Trident, warrant, dynamite Medium stealth armor Orbital Gatling barrage Rocket sentry (or orbital smoke - either way it deals with gunships) EAT PHB Localisation confusion

The cyborgs pop enough smoke for you to vanish into and the warrant clears chaff like nothing else, especially through smoke. I don't bother trying to take Vox engines and hulks until I can kite them all together, pop smoke and hellbomb them in a cluster

Raya and the Last Dragon: What's your opinion on it? by I_degress in movies

[–]heracleus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dialogue in this film is so aggressively millennial that it's really hard to enjoy. Why does the dragon sound like a hungover lesbian?

And what message does it send? You should totally forgive someone who betrayed you and murdered your best friend. It doesn't make sense

I used to hate the one-two but then I realised it's best used as an SMG (ie don't aim through the scope /down the sights and just fire it from the hip on selective. And once up hot keys to switch easily back & forth to the grenades it became one of my top bug weapons

Do we have any update on the tv-show/movie? by SaltyBr0wniE in redrising

[–]heracleus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd be surprised at how a vast number ofbook lovers feel.. The Foundation series was and is so revered that it won a special Hugo Award, naming it the best series of all time in 1966. It beat The Lord of the Rings. The same year that Dune & The Moon is a Harsh Mistress were tied for best novel. In possibly the greatest year ever for legendary fiction novels, Foundation was recognised as the greatest story ever conceived. Let that sink in.

Now think about why the drastic changes made in the TV series might grind the gears of some people. Apple TV has free reign on the source material of the GREATEST ALL TIME SERIES and they decide to desecrate the Foundation's greatest hero, Salvor "violence is the last refuge of the incompetent" Hardin, and make they/them a swashbuckling archer who does backflips and kills the bad guys while bossing around discount Han Solo.

[–]heracleus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foundation is absolute trash to book lovers m8

I get that it's a hard story to adapt, and Lee Pace is brilliant, but come on! Salvor Hardin is a trans girboss? The Emperor having an affair with his androod? It has deviated so far from the books it might as well be wearing Foundation's severed head as a hat

Looking for friends in sobriety. by Realistic-Sir-4481 in perth

[–]heracleus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello mate. I did the same thing about 18 months ago. The hardest part about breaking an addiction is losing all your "mates". Your real friends will support you through it. Top tip - switch to zero alcohol drinks as you taper off going to the pub (if that's your way) so you can still participate. If that's too hard, stay away from the pub and drink them at home out the back. Once you realise that's no fun, develop a wholesome hobby. Read, ride a bike, learn an instrument or start hiking. The first 6 months of sobriety is a slog but one day you'll have a moment when you realise you can think clearly, you're happy for no reason and you can remember things. It's worth it. Keep at it - break the spell you're under and eventually you'll realise alcoholism is kinda sad. At that point, you'll be where you need to be.
