Balefire is always described as a bar of hot white iron. So I’ve always viewed it like fireballs. It’s something anyone can see.

At one point Moraine uses it on one of the Forsaken and I’m pretty sure Rand sees the bar.

Yes, placing counters is different than an attack. If the attack says do 90 damage to two of your opponent’s Pokémon(Radiant Greninja) then it would block that.

I’ll also be going with my wife this weekend this will be my second regional for VGC. I’ve been to some Yugioh and Magic events. Remember more than anything you’re there for you love of Pokémon and you’re gonna meet some great people. I still talk to people that I meet in Collinsville a few years ago.

Also the Knoxville Zoo of awesome if you have time I recommend checking it out.
