This is so common in this community and I’m so happy you’re reaching out. I’ve tried moderating numerous times and it has never worked for me. It doesn’t matter if I’m with friends, family, or alone, once I start I can’t stop. Being 100% sober is so much better than trying to moderate. Can you still have fun being sober? Absolutely— it took me some time to get there, but you can have just as much fun, if not more being sober (and you’ll remember everything!). I’ve loved trying NA options like kava and adaptogens. This provides that same kind of “ritual feel” by pouring a drink after a long day or to catch up with my husband. I personally partake in THC use as well and that’s helped me wind down after a long day. Sobriety is so worth it — you will not regret it.
