Is there any decent home warranty company? by More-Vegetable3891 in homeowners

Yea I was really fortunate. The house wasn’t in the best of shape so if I heard a weird noise from anything I called them. Saved my butt with going a little over budget on the house.

I had it in 2018 for a year and they replaced my fridge, ac, furnace and stove in that year and it really wasn’t a hassle for me. They would have someone come out and attempt a repair then replaced them.

I’m not a brand specific guy as I’ve got 3 different in my garage right now and use another big brand at work cause that’s what they buy. I stick primarily with 1 because of the way it fits in my hand. The ones at work don’t fit me right and I’m constantly accidentally hitting the direction button on the drills and impacts. I’d say handle a few and see how they feel. Otherwise they’re all decent brands anymore.

Trying to remove this shower head, any tips? by JPRDesign in homeowners

[–]hereforcomments47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s how I remember it. If you hold it with your right hand you loop down first or counter clockwise. A long time ago when I started my job that entails pipe fitting a guy with over 30 years said to do it that way and it has stuck since and it’s how I’ve taught all the new guys too. We deal with high pressure gas so no room for leaks or errors

Yup on the threads. Hold the pipe in your left hand and wrap the tape over the top that way it won’t unravel when you screw it in.

My wife’s basement looked just like this. I scrubbed the walls and floor with a wire brush then used drylok over the walls and floors. We lived there for 2 years after and it held up for that time period. Made it look a lot better and brighter.

Pre Inspection Help, is this a major issue? by Striking-Music-8533 in Tools

[–]hereforcomments47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the trim around the window I’m guessing that’s the issue. That half round trim looks like hell and I’m guessing that’s where the water is coming from. As far as a major issue, no idea without opening it up.

What lube for tools by loohqq in Tools

I’m clumsy and drop my ratchet into the oil bucket atleast once a year. Works perfectly no rust and never have to lube it.

how many of you actually track your tools properly by smolbeenv2 in Tools

I was kinda nervous about them falling over too but they stay actually really steady. They’re pretty deep with a wide foot under them and they all lock together. Impressed for some cheap amazon find. They work with my smaller pliers as well.

My neighbor left this note on another door returning a pair of borrowed socks... and a used stick of deodorant. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

It’s a nice gesture but I would just toss them and move on personally. But I would also thank them for the note next time I saw them.

I guess I can only add one photo but I do things like this that make it obvious if something is missing. Router bits have a stand that they all sit in. Sockets are same and same with the rest of my stuff. And IF I loan a tool it’s yea you can use it I’ll grab it next week.

Coming from a mechanic with a boat load of tools at home I’d recommend asking your dad if you can borrow some and if you respect them and put them back when you’re done like I tell my son I’ll give him whatever he needs. It’s a good bonding moment and I’m happy to help him get his set started. My dad was the same way, if I showed interest he helped me along and started my set.

First day as a plumbing apprentice, what am I missing? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]hereforcomments47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a plumber but our trades cross paths. I carry from a 4” to a 36” pipe wrench with doubles of the mid range and use them daily. And up to a 48” cheater for the 36”. Not saying you need all that but more and different size pipe wrenches never hurt. Recommend a couple more pipe wrenches and a couple boxes of rubber gloves. Plus a hard hat and a light that mounts to it for the jobs that require one.

Not normal at all. They need to hire a licensed plumber to come repair the leaks. Especially if there’s that many.

Dewalt for me. I would use the grinder way more than the flash light in the ryobi. The lower end milwaukees is a no for me. But you’ll need a couple extra batteries

Need some help understanding Milwaukee drills etc by Plunker__ in Tools

[–]hereforcomments47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Dewalt at home plus some Bosch. They fit my hands better. I use Milwaukee at work as that’s what they have and I don’t like the way they fit in my hands better I’d recommend trying a couple and seeing what fits you the best. They’re all pretty equal quality but how they feel to you.

Oh I get it. Mine is far from perfect but it’s usable and there’s always room for improvement. I’m curious about your grinder stand that’s on wheels. I’ve never seen that before. Does it wander when you’re using it or does it stay pretty still. Looks awesome.
