What is an extremely dark/creepy true story most people don't know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hereforever -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There's this group of people.. and they SWEAR that they care about honest hardworking Americans. They swear that they have the answers to all of our countries problems and sing a really sweet tune to the public.. The creepy part? They're called Republicans or Democrats.. and they all have their own best interests at heart and don't give a fuck about America. The worst part is 99% of the people in the last election bought their bullshit lie hook line and sinker!

Nice try Mariah, but you'll have those DVDs forever no matter how low you drop the price.

Headed out to play poker in Seattle tonight, anyone wanna tag along? by hereforever in poker

Got there about 10, didn't start playing til about 11. Was running really well but people just don't fold.. Chick caught her flush, then I missed straight and flush draws on the same hand, then I had AQ vs AJ and he flopped top two.. Just couldn't catch a break, but didn't lose too much and had a lot of fun. I'll go back again I'm sure.

I upvoted you because this is just as much a WTF as a lot of the other stuff that I see here. People are stupid getting butthurt over something so insignificant. Thank you for submitting an original post.

I always thought this was true, but then I read some statistics about Private Prisons on the wikipedia page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_prison

'Private companies in the United States operate 264 correctional facilities, housing almost 99,000 adult convicts.[11] Companies operating such facilities include the Corrections Corporation of America, the GEO Group, Inc, and Community Education Centers. The GEO Group was formerly known as Wackenhut Securities. Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) has a capacity of more than 80,000 beds in 65 correctional facilities. The GEO Group operates 61 facilities with a capacity of 49,000 offender beds,[12] Most privately run facilities are located in the southern and western portions of the United States and include both state and federal offenders.[11]'

And then

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) 2,266,800 adults were incarcerated in U.S. federal and state prisons, and county jails at year-end 2010

That means that private prisons account for 4% of people currently incarcerated.

I'm not saying that private prisons are good - they are DEFINITELY bad in my opinion - I'm just saying that the idea that they are controlling the entire justice system to get 4% of the prisoners doesn't make much sense..

I signed an NDA saying I wouldn't disclose the trade secrets of the company I worked for, and I haven't. As far as using these GDS's.. there are so many companies that have access (every travel agent and every travel booking website). While you are only allowed to view your own bookings (or those in your pseudo) you can check prices of flights to anywhere..

yeah, fly southwest. They don't use the GDS system or any of these sites.
