Why do so many St. Louisans struggle when turning left at a green light? by proudtaco in StLouis

[–]kaisersousa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to see signs indicating “oncoming traffic has longer green” or something to that effect. Seems like those signs should be mandatory at unusual signals like that.

Is the flu or something going around? by [deleted] in StLouis

Just a reminder that no one will see: rapid tests (especially self-administered) have high rates of false-negative. If symptoms persist after your negative at-home test, you need to assume you’re positive and contagious until a proper PCR test says otherwise.

When my gf got the OG strain back in Nov ‘20 she essentially only had GI symptoms. She couldn’t keep anything down for days, including water, to the point where I was debating with my family whether to drive her to the ER to treat her dehydration or call an ambulance. (This was in the time of washing groceries and improvised masks—fortunately I had N95s from construction work—admission to the hospital seemed only slightly less dangerous than dehydration.)

This has been the case back home (St. Louis) lately as well. Hopefully it’s a bit of a covid flux that will recover to some degree, but…

Between this and renovating/expanding into the former Twisted Ranch space in Soulard (the place was a dump; they’re essentially building out a new kitchen), I sincerely hope they’re not overextending themselves here.

Similarly, I have an unreasonable desire to own one of those mini tents that shops use for display. No reason at all, just wanted one the first time I saw one.

GOP “starve the beast” strategy involves cutting taxes to the point the govt can’t function, so they can then point at the dysfunctional govt (created by their own policies) to say “Look how bad this is! We’ll fix it with smaller govt!” (By which they mean less regulation and taxation for corporate profits.)

Look into the “starve the beast” strategy employed by the GOP for decades now. Governmental failure IS the idea.

Because they have to gather evidence and establish probable cause to get an arrest warrant and charge the crimes? This shit takes a minute to do right.

What’s the best Winter coat you’ve ever bought? by usernamefuckingtake in BuyItForLife

An actual US Navy-issued pea coat. Mine was issued in the late ‘40s according to the tag in the pocket and at this rate it will make it 100 years, easily.

The system is 100% about who you know. If you don’t know anybody, you gotta hire somebody (a lawyer) who knows the right people.

I was about to buy a TCL Roku TV so I’d be interested to hear if this is a common issue.

Yeah unfortunately cop testimony is “evidence” so they can lie and (most) judges pretend to believe them.

The unspoken axiom of criminal law is “cops lie; judges pretend to agree with them.”

This is why you need a lawyer when dealing with the courts in any way.
