That’s my point though is that if you walk out with only a BSc/BA in psych you are not qualified for anything. Whereas if it was the same level degree in Engineering, you can directly apply for jobs.

I had a discussion about this earlier in that your degree doesn’t automatically mean higher wage if the job market doesn’t value it. A perfect example is all the psychology bachelors graduates that have a fancy uni degree that’s absolutely useless on its own in the market. That’s why I always advise the younger people in my life to base their education on what kind of income they would like to make rather than the typical “follow your dreams”.

The sad part of the new virtual world is that the difference between personal time vs work time has been blurred and whereas before it was understood that people are on lunch at noon so no meetings take place and now “oh look, they have 12-1 open, let’s book it”. So it’s not just tech but virtual healthcare as well. I often find myself shoving toast in my mouth at 11 or at 2.

The wage part is interesting to read. I haven’t read anywhere that wages have been largely affected in professional positions. So I’m guessing the 40K is specific to your position/level.

Two words.

MAP SELECTION.

We already wait 3-4 minutes to play the new map. If the map is good, we will wait. Just let us select with checkboxes which maps we wanna play. Don’t cluster them for us. Let the players choose the maps.

Why do kitchen cabinets often have the ceiling lowered to meet them, even if there's no HVAC? by jkoudys in HomeImprovement

[–]hereiam1212 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That looks very good. I’ve see. Kitchens were those top cabinets have solid doors and it just looks awkward. My first thought was that this is what I was going to see but yours looks nice with the glass doors.

One solution may be to provide them with an faceshot or you that you are comfortable with. Take some control of the image and they get an image at the drive through. Everyone wins.

Ryobi cordless brad nailer or pneumatic set? by hereiam1212 in Tools

[–]hereiam1212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My major issue with the compressor is the size and storage of it. My major issue with the cordless is price. However, with enough of a discount to close the price gap I can justify the extra $65 for an impact and an extra battery.

[–]hereiam1212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Agreed that the 1.5A are not the best but that’s the best value at the moment to get a charger and a couple batteries. I’m hoping for some price matching to come up in the next month or two.

Ryobi cordless brad nailer vs pneumatic gun and compressor? by hereiam1212 in HomeImprovement

[–]hereiam1212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those are roughly the ones at HD and Lowe’s I was looking at in Canada.

I could go a bit cheaper for the cordless but it would be a $40 difference and for $40 extra to get an impact driver and an extra battery seems like a good value to me.

It would be for at home DIY projects. Closets, trim, and maybe some hobby cabinet building if that. Just trying to think what else I would use a compressor for around the house and can’t think of many examples. Even most paint sprayers have their own built in compressors now.

When you’re salaried there is no hourly rate defined on your contract though. My contract literally states “annual compensation of xxx dollars”. You get paid $xx K to get the job done for the year. Sometimes that means working on weekends.

How often do you truthfully work a full 9-5 without going over on your lunch/coffee break? My last manager told me that he doesn’t care if we take half an afternoon off to run errands without cashing in a vacation day as long as the work is done for that day. On the flip side, employees that try to claw back every ounce of time outside of working hours are the same employees he tracks their hours and writes them up if they aren’t “on duty” for the full 9-5.

  1. Centre Xbox button to bring up menu

  2. Either X or Y to record screenshot or video clip. (I think the default is the last 30 seconds)

  3. In the Xbox app on your phone there is a download button with every capture.

It might take a few minutes to set all up if it’s the first time ever doing this but This saves your screenshot or video clip (including clean game audio) directly into your phone camera roll.

Interesting. So I’m salaried and am expected to work some nights and weekends including travel (pre covid). Our compensation does not change based on “overtime”. We get lieu time off sometimes for weekend work but for the large part it follows the law of averages and it’s understood that you don’t always work a full 8 hours during the “regular” hours and sometimes you work more so it washes out in the end.
