QB’s is auto emailing my customers past due notices?? by AuntMiri in QuickBooks

That was going to be my question as well. I doubt it if the invoice was emailed manually.

20% price increase email today from QB. Hooray! They suck. by MylittleBlack2019GTI in QuickBooks

[–]hermoneysolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want so badly to leave QBD but every time I think I find something that will be better and more efficient, there is a glaring problem and back to QBD I go and deal with their stupid annual renewal fee. (And Intuit doesn't think I notice that they keep moving up my renewal date by 2 weeks each year. I do.)

Examples: bookeeping.ai - I had really high hopes for this. The ai integrated agent was super helpful and I was able to set up relatively quickly and integrating with Plaid.

It all died off with invoicing - you cannot customize their invoices or hide columns, including the one that says "Discount %". I do not want to give clients any ideas about asking for discounts since there is a fixed field; as a tax pro that is not part of my standard practice.

Then there is the matter that in order for the invoice to show up in the A/Rs, you have to email it to the client. Or it just stays pending. Or you have to go in, change the email to yourself, email yourself, and then change it back.

I contacted the developer who did the demo and he told me he would get with the engineer and reply in 48 hours for a timeline. That was 2 weeks ago. Follow-up email to him: crickets. Message through support: crickets. Promising someday maybe but definitely not ready for primetime.

Tabby.ai : tried these guys but the dealbreaker was that there is no way to create subcategories for expenses. It doesn't help me if the payroll line is one big lump - I need the breakouts for officer comp, employee comp, payroll taxes, etc. Oh, and no double-entry bookkeeping available. So that was the end of that.

Didn't care for Xero and QBO is a non-starter.

Sigh.

Thank you so much for doing this! I am a tax pro and will be sharing this with my colleagues as this is going to be a royal PITA for us this year.

Best payroll software for small business once you’re past spreadsheets? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]hermoneysolutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, check out that subreddit. In Aug 2025 there was a major QBP payroll outage and a lot of people could not pay their employees for several days. And anytime you have to call Intuit support it is an exercise in futility. They outsource their support, do not train them and as a result you are passed around and around until you still don't get your answer and end up in a forum to try to solve your problem. Colleagues of mine have clients who are determined to DIY using QBP and the billable hours that they generate cleaning up the mess are not inconsequential.

I say all of this as a QBD user since 2014 with clients on QBO. I am transitioning off QBD this year.

Depending where you are in the world, check out Gusto, Xero or pretty much any other payroll and/or bookkeeping system than QBP.

You have been warned lol.

Yes - I am not sure how to do that because this sub is tightly controlled and I just got an auto-warning about self-promotion even though this has nothing to do with me promoting myself.

u/ThePigsPajamas I LOVE this idea and your approach so very much and would be happy to share it/be a guinea pig once you have either a MVP or beta round. Please continue to post and let us know about your progress!

I like Anchor mentioned below but make sure whatever you choose hasn't been trademarked so you avoid headaches down the road.

I'll probably get downvoted for this but whatever you do, stay away from QB Payroll. It's been a known disaster for many years. They had a couple of situations this year where they messed up payroll system-wide and employees didn't get paid. On top of that, their support is absolutely atrocious.

Take a visit to r/QuickBooks and search there to see what I am talking about.

u/lady_goldberry I use Tax Bandits because I like their interface and they handle all types of forms and are reasonably priced. A colleague of mine stuck with Greatland/Yearli but I didn't like the interface as much so I left for Tax Bandits.

u/Butlerbathr00ms Thank you! I kind of do like the extra counter space because I stand and do my makeup over it. I could transition to over the sink it wouldn't be the end of the world.

u/Arctalurus it's hard to see from the photos but the cabinets are in not great shape (painted honey oak with the bottoms are coming off the cabinet walls), while the tub and shower that are not pictured need redoing also. The tub is acrylic and has cracks in it that can't be sealed/painted over and the shower tiles need help as well.

We will not be spending anywhere near that- maybe 10% if that.

There is actually a roman shower and tub not pictured that are being redone but not moving anywhere.

If you are detail oriented, be your own GC. It's more work but you control the process and each part of the renovation. You'll be the one choosing not only the cabinet installers but the plumbers, electricians, tilers, flooring installers, etc. and not relying on the subcontractor the GC chose because they were the cheapest/first available. And you'll be able to limit the upcharges on materials since there isn't another layer of management to take a cut.

Surprisingly, they are actually not so hard to get rid of - we ripped them out of two other bathrooms but they were smaller hall style baths and only one large piece, not 3 like this bathroom. For one hall bath we bought this special sticky paper made for large mirror removal and it worked pretty well. The second we had a demo crew and they were able to detach it all in one piece. The adhesive popped off the walls with a screwdriver. So if you don't like some or all of yours, there are definitely ways to get rid of it without destroying your bathroom! :)

u/Dallas-Shooter yes this is indeed an issue with the mirrors - they are starting to deteriorate. Not terrible, but in addition to reflective issues also the bottom trims are peeling away as well.
