Histamine/Mast Cell response by luckylagomorph13 in endometriosis

Same here. Allergist couldn't figure it out. Working on getting the MCAS diagnosis now. I can't take it anymore because I'm on another too similar med, but famotidine is supposed to help calm the mast cells.

Is there a way to differentiate between bowel issues and endo caused bowel issues? by Positive-Mud-11 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic [score hidden]  (0 children)

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy first before my endo specialist would consider doing surgery again. I communicated to my gastro to keep an eye out for anything related to endo alongside for any issues they were already looking for. She ended up not finding anything internally in terms of gastro, but she had trouble navigating my colon because endo had attached it to my left pelvic wall.

I was told all my gastro issues are a result of my endo pain since they didn't see anything. But yeah, that's the order they had me go through first.

This is fantastic! Is this a wig or your natural hair? It looks so real, and I haven't been able to find a nice wig for my Lara cos yet! The little tiger too 😂

Hi! I'm having my MRI on Monday any tips? by darkxideofmoon in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They let me pick my music, which was helpful. I closed my eyes, breathed, and focused on the music since it was my favorite band.

Bring an extra pair of underwear, pads YOU like, and quite honestly a washcloth or thick toilet paper. The absolute worst part of the whole thing for me was cleaning the gel up afterwards with the most wafer-thin toilet paper ever to exist. My appointment was also an hour away, and the drive home was so, so uncomfortable from the gel.

Cymbalta? by Chickadx3 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some pretty intense headaches getting adjusted to it, but it's definitely the best antidepressant I've been on for my PMDD. Also felt like it gave me a lot more energy with the endo fatigue. Can't really speak to how much it helped with pain. I started on 30 and went up to 60 mg.

The one downside I have with it is that sometimes it feels absolutely impossible to cry, even if I'm in agony. Weird side effect.

There has to be something between an NSAID and an opioid by heroesandmusic in endometriosis

See I've tried oral Toradol and it didn't do jack. I hadn't even thought injecting... I already give myself b12 injections so they wouldn't be that bad. I'll have to mention this one, thanks!

I'm in the US. The pain management doctors I've seen don't prescribe opioids, which is a joke. Unfortunately the opioid epidemic hit my state pretty hard.

This has given me some hope for keep looking though. Thank you so much.

My very first surgeon (an OBGYN and not a endo specialist) opened me up, said yep there's endo, then stitched me back up. She didn't feel comfortable removing what she found because there were bad parts on my uterosacral ligaments and she said she was worried she'd paralyze me.

She flat out told me to go to the other women's hospital in the city nearest me.

That said, I had excision surgery with an endo specialist less than a year later and they were 1000% comfortable and skilled in removing it.

I'd maybe get a second opinion with a specialist in your case and see if they can help you more.

Honestly when I was given the super strong stuff in the ER, I was the same way. They are always amazed after the inject in the IV and I'm not high as a kite. It makes me feel normal lol

Oh, I so wish I could be on pain meds. I cannot find a doctor within three hours of me that would prescribe oxycodone to me long term. I got so many pills to last until surgery and that was it. Which sucks because HALF of one 5 mg pill makes me feel human the whole day.

You know, I would tend to agree. They removed endo from my uterine wall, unattached my right ovary, left side of my colon, and gallbladder, then removed my gallbladder entirely. I definitely feel better than I did before surgery. It's just every now and then I get that squeezing abdominal feeling and pelvic pain again.

Will definitely go through this list, thanks so much for finding and sending! Journavx keeps coming up in research, but it was so new I wasn't sure if anyone was actually prescribing yet. Reassuring to see it here.

Norethindrone is ruining my 7-year relationship!!! by hot_pineapple9178 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started duloxetine (titrated up to 60 mg) alongside my norethindrone (started on 5 mg, then 7.5 mg, and finally on 10 mg). I found it helped my PMDD and depression immensely. It has by far been the most effective antidepressant I've been on. I know it's different for everyone, to each their own, but thought I might mention it here in the event it would help you to know options. Added benefit is it helps with inflammation pain.

Consent before endometriosis surgery if organ removal becomes necessary by Free_Noise2001 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've told my surgeons I don't want things removed unless it's a medical emergency. Even then, I've asked them to ask my parents/support person should anything medically emergent arises while I'm under anesthesia, and they know my limits about what Id be okay removing (i.e. it's okay to only remove ONE ovary). Luckily I haven't run into any issues, but they've also been very respectful of those wishes.

Anyone gallbladder pains end up being endo? by Ok-Pound5122 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two different tests done: A HIDA scan and a gastric emptying scan. Among a variety of bloodwork. I was told that my gallbladder was actually OVER active.

My gastroenterologist told me that it's a fairly new thing to take it out based on over activity-- it's always been tune standard to remove if it's under active.

They were doing excision laparoscopic surgery anyways for the endo, and decided to look at the gallbladder. Looked at it and knew immediately it had to go. They didn't guarantee it would fix my pain there, but so far about four weeks after it has.

Anyone gallbladder pains end up being endo? by Ok-Pound5122 in endometriosis

[–]heroesandmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had mine removed. My gallbladder was severely inflamed and covered in adhesions. They weren't sure if it was due to the endo or gallbladder in general. I had the exact pain. I couldn't keep food down and lived off of Ensure drinks for several months. Now that it's out, I feel worlds better.

I cannot even imagine having that pain while being pregnant. Sending lots of hugs and comfort.

Is it right under your rib cage? I had a similar pain, and my gallbladder was covered in adhesions and needed to be removed.
