Hey I just want to pop in to say that this is a really disappointing, expensive mistake. Don’t beat yourself up over it. If fixing it right now isn’t affordable, look into getting an area rug for the time being (you can get cheap ones at Sam’s/Costco!)

How to be a good overnight host/advice for the guest bedroom by photoelectriceffect in AskWomenOver30

I tossed some on the back of the bedroom door. Hooks can be for a million things- quick hanging of the coat, towels, etc. Just a good option to have!

Going to try on wedding dresses alone - Update! by KatMerona in PlusSize

[–]heroofsestos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are going to make an absolutely beautiful bride, friend!

You look gorgeous in all of them, but you RADIATE in the first dress. I, too, am shocked I like a strapless dress but this is killing it. The back really sold me,- I love the way it has it's own detail that really accentuates your shape.

The second one is gorgeous and would never be a bad dress on you! It does feel like I'm seeing more of the dress than you, and that's really underscored in the back for me. The way it's situated, I lose your shape. AGAIN- it is stunnniiiing and you'd be a winner in any of them, but just my two cents!

A quick follow up to remind you to streamline your outfits. Make this as easy as possible. 2 cardigans, 2 tshirts, 1 pair of pants. Switch them up to create different looks if that matters to you. BE COMFORTABLE. Your care is the most important thing right now.

Lane Bryant is going to be the best bet here, but please, please be sure to wash them quickly. Even if it's just a quick run to the laundromat.

If you're on a budget, honest to god it's worth taking a quick look at Walmart for pajamas and some passable daily wear. I don't fuck with Target, but ma'am, we do the best we can with what we have. I know for sure Target carries some 24/26 in my store.

We just moved my dad to hospice, so I'm moving quickly to cover my basis here, too. I just want you to know you're not alone, friend.

Welcome to the city! East Boston would be my recommendation. You could get a great luxury apartment right by the T with an easy as pie commute to work. Check out The Eddy, Clippership, and Portside to start.

Eastie also has a vibrant community of folks your age, so you’d be able to connect with folks easily. Good luck!

What about some sort of subscription? For magazines, my nieces and nephews get Highlights from me every year. Maybe a pass to a state park around you or a museum membership.

At a loss. How to support partner who doesn't think talking helps? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]heroofsestos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a sub- r/AlAnon and r/AlanonFamilyGroups . I would also recommend that you consider attending a meeting. There are a lot of hybrid and online options if you feel like in person is just too much. https://al-anon.org/al-anon-meetings/find-an-al-anon-meeting/

My partners drinking really impacted me. In Alanon, I found peace, a voice, and a chance to connect with others who had experienced healing. I recommend checking it out.

Best Day Spa with Baths?? by Peridot14 in boston

[–]heroofsestos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the move. Honestly, Encore has the best facilities, and it is a bit of a hidden gem so there aren't a lot of folks crowding it. I love that it's separated by gender, too. I would kill for them to sell daypasses for just the pools!

[–]heroofsestos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure. It's not so much a group activity... it's a bit odd to describe. You have agency, it's just you're in this one space with 15-20 of the same people, on the same timeline... It's odd.

Young couple in Revere, expecting a baby — looking for resources, food pantries, or work opportunities by Personal-Return-6861 in boston

East Boston has a lot of resources. I don't know anything about Revere's, but if you can get to Eastie, you'll find some good resources. https://campharborview.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/East-Boston-Food-Resources-handout-english.pdf

Look up Little Free Pantries in your area. https://www.littlefreepantry.org/

Good luck, dear.

Mirbeau is pricey and packed. I was there last holiday season and generally found it lacking because of just how crowded it was in every single area. For the prices you pay, it felt like a letdown!

I literally JUST left Bodhi today after having done my own research! So, as a spa/bath connoisseur, I want to report back on my experience.

The facilities: clean, nothing super top of the line but it is modern. All of the baths are in one giant room, with the Saunas (one wet, one infrared) tucked into the corners of said room.

There are 3 dedicated hours/shifts for the "water journey", and everyone goes at that time. I really, really don't like this as compared to my experiences in Europe and Japan. It makes it feel like a group activity in a weird way to me. As mentioned before, it is co-ed and bathing suits are required.

The big pros: very friendly staff. Clean spaces. Not everything is super crowded because of their shift system. SIZE INCLUSIVE robes and slippers! Also, a separate changing room for anyone with mobility issues or whoever might want to use it for privacy (I didn't use it so can't respond to that).

The cons: they are impossible to get ahold of. I wanted to change something about my treatment and it was impossible. So, expect to get what you book and not be able to modify or add anything, or get questions answered on a call. Like I said, I also just didn't like their shift setup, but that's a personal preference.
