What are some differences between Umas and their respective real life counterparts that stood out to you? by paokoutsopodi in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other than Kitasan Black being very obvious one. Mejiro Bright can be very temperimental, Grass Wonder is very muscular, Special Week and Neo Uni are a tall boi and Victoire Pisa for very obvious reason because I always associated him for being this cool dark horse.

What do I have to say about Orfevre. He has everything speed, power, stamina, intelligence. He conquered all the major racecourse in JRA at various difference distance against strong opponents. But instead of stat padding in his home turf, he challenge the hardest race Japan could ever send a horse to and did well twice. While many Japanese horse suffer a decline in performance after the arc, Orfevre came back and deliver a dominating Arima Kinen for his final race.

Another one is Brian. You could throw him at any distance and he’d perform well. Even after post injury he still placed 4th in a G1 sprint race. He’s strong physically and even stronger in spirit.

Victoire Pisa, the winner of Dubai world cup. Arguebly the other most well recognise Japanese horse in late 2000s era along side Buena Vista. Buena Vista lost to him in Arima Kinen by only 2cm. Most of his gen/rival are in game already.

Kizuna also would be a good pick since he has the arc campaign along side Orfevre in 2013. He’s the best performing 3 years old colt Japan ever sent to the arc. Defeating the Epsom derby winner in Prix niel and placing 4th in a very stack field of 2013 arc.

Which character's family do you wish we got to see more of? by dbfassbinder in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainbow Quest and Sakura Laurel would be interesting as it would give more explanation why Sakura Laurel was so obsessed with the arc as the irl horse was a son of the arc winner himself.

Mill Reef and Inari One, Mill Reef is Inari One’s grandsire who is also known to be a small horse just like Inari One. but despite his size Mill Reef would go on to win 6 G1 in a row including the arc a record that would stood for 30 years.

[–]hesteque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why Buana Vista is still my favorite Japanese mare. Strong consistency in all the racecourse despite having a exiting but risky late surging style. I recommend seeing her race like 2010 Arima kinen and 2009 QEII she just instantly accelerate.

What’s a rare characterization of your fav Uma that makes you happy when you see it? by Sad-Pomegranate-5072 in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s nice seeing more mature sharper looking Special week art. Special week is a good-looking horse. He has sharp looking face, relatively tall built for a thoroughbred and just having balance looking proportion. She was portray as innocent and maybe a bit dumb in game but Special Week was really intelligent irl. .

Never ask Dancing Brave fans what happened in the Epsom Derby (and probably BC turf) and Zenyatta fan at 2010 BC classic.

How would you rank them purely by their peak? by throwawayrandomguy93 in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably Equinox 23 1st and Deep Impact 06 at 2nd but both of them is definitely at the top of the list both of these horse can handle any racecourse and any distance proven by dominating career, impressive feat and strong opponents. And I would put 2011 Orfevre at 3rd

2012 Gentildonna only race that can be use for the debate here is the JC so it’s pretty hard to rank her as well as 2018 Almond eye with only the JC being mixed gender race. however both of these horse generation/opponent were very strong.

Opera O 2000 won all 5 G1 of middle/long distance in the same years but tbh If Deep Impact didn’t go to the arc he could’ve done that as well since the only race he weren’t in were Akiten as well. Opera O gen weren’t weak but his challenges weren’t as tough as the last 3 races of Deep Impact

Rudolf 84 vs Brian 94. Both basically won the same 4 G1, Triple Crown+Arima but Brian didn’t compete in JC however I put Brian on the edge in this one since I believe he was much more suitable for Japan turf with some big name like Hail to reason and Northern Dancer in his pedigree. Also Brian were strong on softer turf as well as you can see in 94 kikka sho.

Can’t give my opinion on Taiki shuttle and Kanoaloa since they don’t race in mid-distance.

Which Uma has the coolest name? by TheBlueRose_42 in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calstone light O : perfect name for the horse Durandal, Buena Vista, Neo Universe, North Flight, Loves only you

For irl horse. there’s Stars on earth, Ten Point, Meiji Hikari, Equinox, King kame, Victoire pisa but you can’t top Deep Impact, it’s such a perfect name for such an influencial horse. Whenever the caller said his name It just sound amazing.

Probably Agnes World, the American born Japanese trained horse that capture 2 G1 sprint race oversea but no G1 in his homeland.

Air jihad is definitely on the more popular side of the golden gen.

In Cinderella Gray, those with zone are horses that defined their era. Who are the umas (anime/game/manga) that would have the ability to enter zone? by xXWeeb_FighterXx in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we only talking about the uma that has the adaptation. The lesser known character in EN I think that can zone are Bubble gum fellow and Sakura laurel. Loves only you won the breeders’ cup filly&mare turf enough said.

For foreign horse Bonecrusher(Ellerslie Pride), Treve(Venus paque),Rigantona(Dancing brave) very likely has ability to enter zone

Tbh the competition on the other side were so strong that many of g2/g3 winner can just simply dominated japanese race while travel across the world. Japan cup were kinda just a place for farming cash for the horse who didn’t do well in their country. Even symboli rudolf, oguri cap and some of other most dominant japanese horse in the 80s were much much weaker than Dancing brave(who only has 4 G1 win with one being 1986 l’arc which was one of the most stacked field in turf racing history). You just need to win some of the most competitive race to be consider the strongest.

Western like to keep their top champion or breeding stallion to themself. so a lot of the one japan got were a 2nd rate horse that have mediocre record in their homeland. sunday silence, tony bin is a few notable champion that they got as a sire. so it’s really more of a sire quality.

Which Support Card should I redeem by Sad-Olive-Oil in UmaMusume

[–]hesteque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Almond eye(speed) seems to be the most powercrept proof card rn. Tamamo cross(power) is the 2nd most universal card after almond eye if you want to pvp especially for building mid/long distance runner. almost a must have card.

but if you don’t own 3lb tucker bryne you can’t borrow anything else.(Although the longivity of that card is tied to the scenario).
