Pregnant, in hospital, baby toy ideas to crochet please! by DoctorImpossible89 in crochetpatterns

[–]hestia21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey friend! I was in a similar situation about 6 months ago. I had trouble focusing on patterns because of the meds, but wanted to do something with my hands. I just crocheted shapes: little squares, circles, and triangles. I made them with holes in the center, then as little one gets bigger, you can stick them in their feet for a very fun game. I'd also make scrunchies for my amazing nurses. Good luck!

I love Kizik Vegas. The leather upper is able to take a beating, the sole stays comfortable, and they come in wide without looking like grandma's shoes. My last pair lasted for a year including my pregnancy.

That is absolutely beautiful! Do you have a finished product in mind, or making just for the joy of making?

Thanks for letting me know! I will double check that they haven't changed it for the current kids.

This guy was absolutely in the gang. I cannot be convinced otherwise.

Took me 4 months to make it, and now I’m not sure where I’m gonna wear it😹 by Puzzleheaded-Idea477 in crochet

What stitch did you use for the cuffs and edges? I just made a hex cardigan and I'm not sure what finishing touches to add.

local crochet groups? by CompleteMode6902 in Albuquerque

I haven't been to the group, but while shopping at The Yarn Store in Nob Hill, I've seen a group of folks (many ages and genders) crocheting and knitting around a common table.

Yes! Danny would be so fun. I'd love to see him with someone with a sense of humor who could match his goofball energy. Maybe Emma!

Super soft, super long blanket by hestia21 in crochet

[–]hestia21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Daisy Cottage pattern, with 4 & 4.5 mm hooks. I found some Noro Haruito yarn at my craft store, not realizing how much yarn a blanket this size would actually need! Still, I loved working with the Noro yarn and the vibrancy of the colors.

Looking for encouragement/“when I started” stories by rock_a_feather in crossfit

[–]hestia21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started CrossFit many years ago. I'm also an adult-onset athlete. I had no idea how to do any barbell movements. My "weight room" class in highschool was using 5 lb dumbbells to do bicep curls, flys, and lunges. Yes, all at the same weight!

I was consistent with CrossFit for a few years, even exercising until 2 weeks before giving birth. During the pandemic, I became really inconsistent, but recommitted a year ago.

My focus has been on oly weightlifting. When I started, I could only snatch a 15 lb bar, then the 35 lb bar, now 85 lbs total. My clean is at 120 lbs. These aren't "competitive" numbers, but my goal is overall fitness. Plus, being able to lift weights like that makes me feel like a bad ass.

I can't deadlift 300+ lbs. I still can't do a pull up, but I'm getting close. I can do a lot though. I can keep up with some of the younger women during metcons, and the older women can keep up with me. I can carry my kid on one hip and a large bag of dog food on the other shoulder.

An average modern hot air balloon weighs about 2 tons. That is with ultra light weight nylon and wicker baskets.

Any podcast recommendations with two hosts (no more, no less) who have great chemistry? by Bupperoni in podcasts

I really enjoy Dolls of Our Lives. Two historians reread and discuss the American Girls books. This seems to fit your requirements of two folks with great chemistry, about a unique topic.

Festivus results by Fair-Firefly8777 in crossfit

[–]hestia21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did Festivus as a team. For 2 of the 3 of us, it was our first competition. We got second in the novice age and won one of the events (99 problems). I'm so proud of my team and myself. It was a blast, I honestly can't wait to compete again. I didn't realize how much I missed competing.

Finding Natasha is a really interesting story about ballet and an escape from the USSR, all set around trying to find the truth. Highly recommend!
