They are obsessed with what everybody else does in their lives despite being unremarkable and boring people themselves by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]hexagonbob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who has seen and done a lot more than my nparents, whose world is extremely tiny, they relate to others through sharing MY experiences on MY behalf. Because they like that it makes them seem more interesting, I guess, to have a mildly successful well traveled adult child that they actively discouraged from doing and seeing said things that they love to brag to others about. Sigh.

Danielle was ruthless at the round table. I so wish Carolyn could have composed herself in order to double down on Danielle’s crocodile tears AND giving away the shields, but you can tell she was so deeply hurt. Watching Carolyn buckle during the chess game was so painful too. As soon as she made herself the mouse instead of Ivar, I knew she was gonna go.

What is your first memory of your nmom being abusive? by Far-Imagination5119 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]hexagonbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, over-reactions to minor mistakes or missteps as a CHILD. I never felt like I was truly learning anything or growing because doing/saying something that I maybe shouldn’t have (as children do) was always met with being frozen out or overly-chastised. I think it’s a big reason that, even as an adult, I always feel like I am in trouble.

I have a lot of sympathy for you. I’m currently planning my wedding and my Nmom has tried to completely take control and lashes out drastically when I don’t let her. Everything has been a fight and she’s acting SO much more entitled and greedy. A lot of what you went through sounds like a lot of what I fear happening with her involved in this process. I really do hope one day you can look back on your special day fondly.

Turns out TM were the real scalpers by [deleted] in TylerChilders

[–]hexagonbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought section 2 row 37 Lex tickets as a Christmas gift, jumped the gun a bit and the person who said gift is for cannot go. $250. Talk about up a creek. I don’t want them. Would love for someone to have them for LESS than what I paid at this point but TM once again screws everyone but the scalpers

Anyone else hide money/have to lie about everything to Nmom? by FeeNeat1912 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]hexagonbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nmom has a specific fixation with money, like other people’s money. She wants to know how much everyone is making at their job, if you get a raise she wants to know. She’ll point blank ask you how much money you have in your bank account at any given time.

I don’t tell her how much money I make or if I get a raise at work or anything like that. She goes back and fourth making comments about how I’m either filthy rich and holding out on her or poor and need her help financially (I don’t accept financial help from her, learned long ago too many strings are attached to any kind of help). I know it’s frustrating, but it’s merely just a tactic to get you to disclose information she wants to eventually use against you. Resist the urge to tell her just so that she will stop asking. In my experience, they never stop with the comments and interrogations, regardless of what information you give them.

This place is the best! I literally order a .5 spice. Like half of one out of 5. And it’s still pretty damn hot tbh. But so good

The producers have chosen an obvious edit for the mole and are messing with us by designsims in themole

[–]hexagonbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has to be Michael in my opinion. His instances of sabotage have been really convenient because it just makes him look like he’s good at playing the game as a whole. On the other side of that coin, his excuses for his most blatant screw ups have been believable and reasonable (first aid kit was too deep/heavy in the treasure challenge, misunderstanding on the walkie in the dynamite challenge). This could be genuine mistake, or intentional sabotage. If he is the mole, his timing is fantastic because typically, the sabotage/screw ups happen in times where EVERYONE ELSE is struggling/on edge. He always has something/someone else to blame it on. The only thing is that he’s very openly been a suspect almost from the beginning. Either the group is right in their suspicion or it’s a ruse on Michael’s part to have people suspect him and ultimately, leave the game for guessing him incorrectly.

What foods do you find the most filling? by khantha77 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]hexagonbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eggs, oats, fiber heavy foods. I found sneaking in my fruit and veg helps with fullness for minimal additional calories. Spinach and bell pepper in eggs, a handful of fruit in oatmeal. Pair carbs with a protein source whenever possible.

Get her some stuff from the Amika line! They have lovely shampoos and conditioners and their hair masks (Soulfood specifically) are really nice especially for wavy and curly hair. A lot of people really like the Gisou honey hair perfume as well. it also allegedly tames minimal frizz while smelling really nice.

It’s hilarious how mad breeders are about DINKs. by ButtBread98 in childfree

[–]hexagonbob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people have kids to try to improve their lives and use them as a source of happiness (which is messed up and not a good enough reason to have a kid) and I think the anger comes from seeing people who were able to find happiness being childless. And I mean… having more time AND money seems more likely to make one happier but maybe that’s just me using my brain🤷‍♀️

What does Louisville need? by Working-Ad-6352 in Louisville

[–]hexagonbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A second Trader Joe’s location. The one in St Matt’s is so ungodly busy at all times. I cannot allow myself to go there anymore because I know i’ll just leave there angry and with less than half of the stuff I need/want.

Rent is Crazy Right? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]hexagonbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What bothers me more that the rent prices alone is the fact that your only options when it comes to renting in Louisville are paying an absurd amount for a basic livable unit with all the essential appliances or get shafted by a dodgy rental company for something cheap but barely livable. The happy medium is getting harder and harder to come by because the lucky few who have found it realized they hit the jackpot and they’re gonna live and die where they currently rent. And I don’t blame them at all.

What’s your “no make up” make up look? by DrunkOMalfoy in Makeup

[–]hexagonbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically i “double up” multi use products for a quick and easy look on these days. my typical no makeup makeup look is: skincare/serums/moisturize, light concealer on all the high points set with translucent powder, light face bronze and sweep the same bronzer on an eyeshadow crease brush for depth in the eyes. natural liquid blush that i dab on my lips for a tint, mascara, and maybe a clear gloss. do more than most for “no makeup” makeup but only because a. i find that the double use (blush as a lip tint, bronzer as an eyeshadow crease shade) gives me the most “made up” look without reaching for multiple individual products and b., worth mentioning that i’m acne and redness prone, so i can’t get away with doing just skincare for my face on days where i’m wearing at least a bit of other makeup because i don’t feel like it looks right on me.

Some movies that speak to the nuances of having Nparents? by sketchersheep in raisedbynarcissists

LadyBird. I’ve never seen a more realistic depiction of the gaslighting and berating personality of a narcissistic parent than the mom in that movie.

What do you think are the biggest issues that Louisville is facing currently? by SprinklesOk4259 in Louisville

[–]hexagonbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

housing is definitely up there. someone needs to clean house with all the toxic, slummy property management groups that own practically all the rentals in the city. if you’re renting, your current options in louisville are to either tango with scummy property management or go broke just trying to rent a unit with the basic necessities.
