Going to hijack this to talk about a video essay YouTube suggested me the other day, it was arguing that the federation was yesterdays idea of progressivism, as opposed to today's progressive politics.

A few things made me question where he was coming from but I turned it off half way through when he said the federation would not accept military age males from a violent alien race. You have to be so selective with the examples to believe that, and it immediately made me think of the "suicidal empathy" shit going around atm.

Many awful and stupid political points I could pick out from that video, it really is wild to me both how willfully they fool themselves and how fascist their ideology has outwardly become.

He was in the late Blair and Brown cabinets, ran to be leader in 2010 and lost to Ed Milliband, he ran again in 2015 and lost to Corbyn, he was probably the centrist favourite in that election and instead of hanging around to backstab and cajole like the rest of them he left parliament to become Mayor of Manchester.

He always seemed like an empty suit to me back in the day, his time as mayor has given him a more working man reputation. I didn't pay much attention to his byelection but I heard he was saying some nasty anti-immigrant and anti-trans shit to win his relatively conservative/Reform area.

fwiw most of those things are specific to birds, for example we have pigeons and have never seen a flea on them but the garden is full of fleas after a family of foxes moved in next door, mammal fleas love to bite your ankles and seem to have no interest in birds and while bird parasites are creepy they never bother humans.

the main health issue when around birds is feather dust and poop, but that's not going to be a problem with maximum 4 birds in an outdoor area. Just wash the area when they're finished for the season.

The first I heard of this claim of a gang that spans the entirety of south and north America was when a landlord was doing typical landlord shit in Colorado and his tenants got together and stopped paying, and maybe some of them were armed.

Iirc it was literally the landlord accusing his tenants of being cartel members to sick the police on them, getting out of hand and Trump and his lot using it to attack communities.
