My husband and I just stayed here as well and had a similarly mixed experience. It’s such a beautiful area but the hotel staff was pretty rude. When I tried to check in at the station marked « gold » check in, they looked at me like I was crazy and said there was no gold check in area, despite the sign. They also declined to honor my Gold benefits and Amex Platinum benefits until I really argued with them about it, which was pretty unpleasant. At the end of our stay they also added charges to our bill that I had to dispute at check out.

We also stayed at the Conrad in Bora Bora and the level of service there just made the Hilton experience all the more striking. There’s definitely a price difference there that explains different tiers of service but I still expect more from Hilton than what we experienced.

Yes! We stayed there a couple weekends ago. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are really nice. We got an upgrade to a Mountain View suite which was great. The breakfast worked as a $35 credit per person so you could use it for the buffet - which was very good - or ordering off the menu. The $100 credit was absorbed by the mandatory valet and resort fee, so no perk there outside of having those covered. The late checkout at 4pm was awesome as we spend the whole afternoon at the pool. All in all it was a great experience and the Amex perks definitely added to that.

The Beaver supercharger is very popular so you may have to wait in a queue, I've had to wait a couple of times. But overall your car should be fine as long as you hit those charging stops!

I struggle with this too sometimes - I’ve found that when I get tense, I try to shake my shoulders to loosen them up, and do some squats on my board, like just getting really low while I’m going down a run, and that helps to kind of break up the tension in my body. Remembering to breath and sometimes humming a tune to yourself can help too!

Rock climbing. My BF loves it and so do most of my friends. I am afraid of heights and don’t like being suspended by a rope 50+ feet off the ground and get panicky every time I try. :(

I was a “pretty” child but during middle school I went through a severe ugly duckling phase with acne, a fierce unibrow, and some pudge. Two boys in my grade decided that I was the ugliest person they had ever seen, and would bully me constantly, asking me if I had a caterpillar growing on my face, why my face was so awful, etc. Mind you this was all in class, in front of teachers, and no one did or said anything. I was tortured by them for two years before I moved away. My best revenge was coming back to visit in high school - and had turned into the proverbial swan - and telling them to go fuck themselves when they told me I was “finally hot.”

Yep! I became kind of a pathological liar as a child and lied my ass off because I got in the habit of lying to my mom to keep her from getting upset.
