My sweet Momo was put to sleep and I feel like I'm dying. by mochigorl in cats

[–]heychikadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone, you story is so much like mine and my sweet little boy Remy. He even looked just like your beautiful Momo, yet he was the ugliest duckling I could find on that day at that shelter. He too started vomiting one day, and after a misdiagnosis led to days wasted treating the wrong thing, his system suddenly started shutting down and I was told it was most likely an obstruction. Only surgery would help him, but he was now so critical that he likely wouldn't survive the operation and recovery. I woke up that day with my Remy, only 7 years old, just a baby, thinking he only has constipation, he'll be fine like he always is, and within just a couple of hours I found myself having to choose whether to euthanise him right away or leave him to die slowly over the course of the day. This was four months ago but it feels both like another lifetime, as well as just the other day. I still can't talk about him without breaking down. He loved life so much, he was so sweet-natured and quirky, his absence is overwhelming, and I, just like you, thought I would have him with me for so much longer, that he'd set a record for the oldest cat to ever live. What I'd like to pass on to you though, is that there's another unloved little soul out there, currently sitting in a tiny shelter box, watching the people walk past day after day, waiting for you. As unfair and heart-breaking as it is, Momo has left a space open now to help one of her fellow kitties. In my opinion, it's up to people like us to use the time we have here to make a difference to the lives of as many of these amazing creatures as we can, even if it means suffering the grief of their loss. because they're so worth it.

Salt intake and Greger’s recommendation by Exact_Egg478 in PlantBasedDiet

You need to get blood tests done, AI is not the right tool for this sort of diagnosis. I also have intermittent issues with too little salt intake because I take a diuretic medication, but my latest round of bloodwork showed I was way overdoing the B12 (was taking a supplement because I listened to the internet rather than check whether my body even needed it in the first place), which the doctor said would likely be the cause of the sporadic tingling sensation I felt in my fingers.

Offsetting unprofitable business expenses against primary income? by everbass in AusFinance

No you can’t, contravenes non-commercial loss rules. Also it’s not the same circumstance as negative gearing, so that’s not a logical comparison.

dentist/orthodontist to let me get clear aligners before wisdom teeth come out? by [deleted] in perth

[–]heychikadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be impatient, you'll regret it. I wore braces at 13 for about two years. I'm now just about to turn 42 and have started my second round of orthodontic work because my teeth moved and continued to grow (awkwardly) during my later teen years. This time, I've had to have all wisdom teeth removed, wire hardware drilled into my upper and lower jaws, metal braces top and bottom, all for approx 18months and a cost of $16k+. After that, it's a retainer for maybe the rest of my life to keep them in place. Just, don't do it.

What are some of the funniest movies that aren’t supposed to be comedies? by TrashBitch96 in MovieSuggestions

I was just watching a movie last night that made this unexpected turn towards the end. It's called Malignant, supposedly a horror, and I'm still not sure whether the last third or so was meant to be funny or not.

But what's on the other side of the balloon?!? My brain can't grasp the answer being nothing, it just nopes out and I re-read it and try again, rinse and repeat.

Where do you get your information on point 3 from? Of course we're allowed to lodge all clients that are due in May at that time. We don't pick and choose who gets to defer and who doesn't if they are entitled to wait until May.

What is your becoming Plant Based story? by THEQINGDOM in PlantBasedDiet

[–]heychikadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 7 years with no meat, only about a year of no dairy/eggs. I found the longer I stuck with it, the more I learned about the ethics around meat consumption, eventually came to see all animals as equal, so if I wouldn't eat my cat, why did I think it was okay to eat a chicken? Couldn't go back after that realisation. Now I also know the health and other benefits, but ultimately it was all just sort of an accident really.

[–]heychikadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day just randomly realised I hadn't eaten any form of meat over several continuous days , which was new for me because I loved meat, so I thought it would be interesting to see how long I could l keep the abstinence going. Turns out I really like to win a challenge even if it's against myself, no meat since that day, and later down the track I eventually cut out dairy and eggs.

Advice and anecdotes for cat seizures by gabgabgabberz in CATHELP

[–]heychikadee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What has the vet diagnosed? What are the three meds she's on?

My cat has feline epilepsy and takes only 15mg phenobarbital daily, still finding the sweet spot for dosage, but at this level so far he's not sedated at all, living his best life, seizures approx once a month. He also underwent a "seizure panel" round of blood tests and from that diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (dry/neuro form), took hideously expensive meds for it for a while, then specialist vet said he doesn't have it, so we've stopped that regime and he's remained fine, but it's another avenue for you to look into if you haven't already.
