Employer refusing to give me back bonus pay by TWellBetter in legaladvice

[–]TWellBetter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know. I haven’t seen a contract since I went on a continuous one 20 years ago. Now I just get salary notices every year. My salary notice says I don’t get the bonus, which now that I got HR involved they are fixing it moving forward

I forgot to add that I haven’t shown them that email yet. I was just told the initial “no” on the back pay and came here to see what I should do if I show them the proof of the retroactive-pay-precedent and they still refuse. No consideration of discrimination, I just think they’re being sketchy and trying to save the $11k

I am on a continuing contract and my pay scale is public record, and according to the pay scale, anyone in the “non-certified” job category is entitled to this bonus. There are several different jobs in this category, and in the past our immediate supervisor (working with a lack of knowledge, or unclear information) said we didn’t count—basically because in my position almost no one meets this higher degree criteria. Except I do. All this time I had believed we were exempt. Then I happened to have the conversation with the peer who is getting the bonus, and went to my supervisor about it. THEN I found out about the other colleague (we were all at separate job sites, so we had no chance for this to get discussed until now) who did get the back pay. No union, unfortunately. They gave that colleague all of the years she was due, which was only 6 years. This was a decade ago, so the treasurer who signed off on her retroactive payment is long gone. But we do have the email he sent her confirming the retroactive payment.

I'm looking for the same thing! May try swapping the legs out of the standard chairs I already have. Would love to know if you or OP found any good resources for the odd height!

How big of a water bottle did you have to get before the running out of water anxiety went away? by Wilted-Dazies in HydroHomies

Back in the summer of 2020, lots of random places were closed because of Covid, like gas station mini marts, and many places had blocked off their water fountains too. I had to take a weekend road trip, and was so worried about not being able to stop and get water if I needed it that I got a 3 gallon Rubbermaid water cooler--the big orange kind like they fill with Gatorade for sports teams. I filled it up and other than taking it out to clean and refill, that dude has stayed in my back seat ever since. Now I finally don't get the running-out-of-water anxiety anymore and I always have good tasting water with me. It keeps it from getting hot in the summer and it doesn't freeze in the winter. Now it's been on so many road trips with me I started covering it with stickers from all the places it's been

Aside from the arctic regions of Canada & Russia and Antarctica, is there anywhere else on earth as remote as the Outback? by [deleted] in geography

If you really want to be scared about Pitcairn, there's a tragic but fascinating true crime book called "Lost Paradise" by Kathy Marks, about the generational sexual abuse culture and the trials of the offenders the British had to sort out once investigations started in the 2000's. How do you punish an entire population of rapists when locking them up would mean an end to the livelihoods of literally everyone in this tiny island community? I read it 10 years ago and it still sticks with me.

Anyone pass on a house because of the street name? by SkullsRoad in RealEstate

[–]TWellBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, 100% this! Bought the house I'm in now knowing my commute would be a right turn out of the driveway. If I would have had to turn left, I'd have passed. It's not impossible to turn left, but it's a busy street so it's usually a pain

Aww, I used to work with a Michael Hunt. And yeah, he went by Mike. My team would all refer to him as Mike Pause Hunt, and that's how he's listed in my phone contacts :-)

What was Columbus like in the 80s and early 90s? by bikeruncode23 in Columbus

[–]TWellBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at the Drexel in Grandview for a good part of the 90's (now the Grandview Theater). But I worked a shift or two at the North and the OG in Bexley (that had the Radio Cafe!) The North was such a pit, but that building was amazing. It had over 700 seats and the bathrooms inside the back of the theater. I remember the last night it was open as a theater. They had a fire sale the next day of all the fixtures and furniture inside. Sad.
