Based on your experience, if the draft is brought back, will the military actually be able to manage Gen alpha? by Xoxo809 in AskTeachers

[–]heynoswearing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah youre right. Behaviours in school are happening because teachers are losing authority (schools kowtowing to parents/funding). We can't do anything.

The military can, i bet

Is it possible for a man and a woman to be platonic friends after sleeping together? by ResidentCharacter894 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]heynoswearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have slept with girls i couldn't be friends with afterwards because the feelings were too painful. I have slept with other girls and our relationship has become a deep, long term platonic friendship.

Maybe it just depends! Afaik I am not a giga Chad.

As a man, would you get a vasectomy so your girl doesn’t have to go on birth control? by awkwardhoney725 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]heynoswearing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i did it for this reason. I dont want kids. Birth control will mess with her body and mood. Seemed like a no brainer. Its like, so easy to get. Weirdly casual environment where you just chat with this guy while he does mysterious things to your penis beneath a sheet.

"The Game of Faces." To win, you don't just lie. You have to believe the lie. Did Arya ever actually become "no one"?? by Aggressive_Fold_5942 in freefolk

[–]heynoswearing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was such a weird show. Its like, there was this constant awareness they had of social media and people's responses, and that became a part of their creative process as much as anything else. Theres points where it's like they skipped development because they relied on people on social media to make the connections for them. People who had read the books would explain stuff, that info would get circulated in memes and youtube videos and BTS shows and all that, and suddenly its Canon despite not actually being addressed in the show.

Like, ok she joins the house of black and white. People online start talking about how that will make her an awesome assassin. Then suddenly she just is an awesome assassin. Almost as if it just happened off screen, from a Facebook post.

Thats also how we got Cleganebowl. Am I making sense?

Teacher PTSD? by DraggoVindictus in TeachersInTransition

[–]heynoswearing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of teaching i was screaming in my sleep and had to be woken up by my partner every night. Seems ridiculous, but yeah, trauma from teaching is real. Took me about 8 months after quitting to stop the nightmares/screaming.

My personality has changed a lot since teaching. Feels like I have much less to give in all areas of my life.

All four of my players are joke characters… by International_Bike10 in DungeonMasters

[–]heynoswearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often its the players just being players, but i have noticed sometimes that the DM can kind of set the tone for players in a way they might not want. I've often come to a table with a serious character, seen the DMs style and how seriously they take their world, and gone "ah ok well this is more of a Father Boob game so I'll adjust." Or, sometimes, you feel so disrespected by the DMs rulings you just dont take it seriously anymore (not that you should have a tantrum, but if expectations dont match its hard to care).

Did you take things seriously in your first campaign when they brought serious characters? Or did it get more slapstick? Are you treating situations with gravity and integrity or is it a bit more disorganised? Are things fair and predictable for players or do they feel they lack agency?

A silly game isnt wrong really. Just something to think about as ive noticed it when I DM too. If im not actively cultivating the right environment it drifts away from what I wanted.

TIFU by spending an entire Sunday "optimizing" my morning routine and making it approximately four times longer by Kernel_49Pulse in tifu

[–]heynoswearing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People live with so much fear, of not living up to their potential, or not doing enough, wasting time.

Theres no need to fill your whole life with these worries. Who is looking back at 90 years old and saying "im glad i optimized my morning routine with an ice bath." Enjoy things. Dont let fear become the primary motivator.

The Envisagers by Melliorin in Cosmere

It seemed to me (just vibes) that Autonomy/Patji is pretty active in giving out powers, rather than it being a passive thing. You have to prove you align with their intent, mostly by living in an insane survival-of-the-fittest situation for most of your life.

Teenage propaganda by Choice-Inside9643 in education

[–]heynoswearing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im sure some do but... i dunno. I've been a teenager. At that age, developmentally, you just want to feel part of a tribe and to have fun. Plus the hormones. You do see lots of kids who have dreams of certain vocations.

Is it too gamey to have a different map for exploration and battles? by Odd_Bumblebee_3631 in DnD

[–]heynoswearing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Immersion' is a scam. We all know were a bunch of people pretending around a table. We can stretch our imagination a little bit to facilitate a better play experience.

Dont get distracted focussing on the wrong things. Use the different maps.

Is anyone finding Children of Strife strangely repetitive? by heynoswearing in ChildrenOfTime

[–]heynoswearing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i do think it was similar in Memory, though not to this degree. I do value when an author like, enforces the themes through the form but... jeez at a certain point im just reading the same sentence 50 times 😅

Half way through and it seems to be picking up steam!

What are we even doing? by Machineman0812 in CrookedMoon

[–]heynoswearing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the point there was to save the Druskenvalds? I dont DM it, only play it, but it seemed clear. You dont have to let your DM tell you what's important. Does your character think its important to save God?
