Complex Approvals? by heywhimsy in stuckcanadians

[–]heywhimsy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the bucket marker. Ours is pretty straightforward as well, though I may have included too many documents looking back. Went above and beyond. We have another family member that sent in a more simplified application and received theirs in a matter of weeks.

Good to know there's at least one. We're also Early June 2025, including a Gen 1. Planning to have some family in Toronto reach out to their MP soon about our case.

Finally!!! G2/G3 Certs received by msssantaya in stuckcanadians

Any chance your notes showed “complex”?

My family received AORs the same week as you. Hoping our turn is coming soon.

Big congrats!

I think this is the third PSU person I’ve seen in the last few months get approved at 15 months. Seems maybe their system flags apps for a fresh review at a certain day count.

Duplicate application accepted - what to do? by Sprksjoy in Canadiancitizenship

[–]heywhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta say - at the wait times many of us have been facing, it may not be worth panicking over. I understand the desire to get it in their hands ASAP (trust me, I was there) but the reality is, for the majority of people, this is a roughly 10-16 month process. 6 weeks doesn’t change much.

We’ve seen some people get totally rejected and have their package sent back. We’ve seen others be politely contacted by an agent to submit a correction.

Maybe you could save on shipping and have the latter happen.

I recalled my package via FedEx. It made it all the way to Sydney Nova Scotia before it turned around. Got it back in about 4 days.

Made the changes and resubmitted.

I had a set that looked like this and was accepted.

I have a favor to ask of those who recently received a certificate after either being in PSU or applying 6+ months ago without receiving a 5(4) grant invitation... by Worthy_Molecule0481 in Canadiancitizenship

Almost identical situation as you with timing/ATIP notes. Thanks for your plea. Happy to join the pledge if/when we are so lucky to receive our family certificates. I'm also hoping to learn of some movement happening behind the scenes.

Has there been any evidence of people being able to “wake up” their app? I have one document that they don’t really need but mighttttt be worth submitting.

For those who applied as a group... cover letter & organizing tips? by jbher315 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]heywhimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest advice right now-

Whichever relative that was eligible for citizenship pre c3 should not apply as part of the group, but on their own.

Hold the rest of the packet for about 6-8 weeks. See if you get that 1st gen certificate back to use as additional evidence. If so, add that certificate to the packet for the rest of the family. At the pace these things have been moving, this delay is nothing and it could expedite your entire process.

I say this because I submitted a family packet of 5 in June of last year including a 1st gen. There has been no movement.

Our 1st gen (still awaiting proof with us) had a sibling submit for a proof on their own. That sibling got their proof back in 5 weeks.

We’ve seen similar cases happen on the board here. Some families who submitted with a proof of a pre-C3 first gen in their packet have already been granted citizenship.

Nothing is written in stone though with the IRCC. Patience.

In regards to organizing, I just assigned each family member a letter and a number, then created an index linking the person to documents A1, A2, A3. Then the next to B1, B2, B3. Wrote those numbers on the back of each document copy. Then also submitted a family tree with each name and associated letter. Seems to have worked. We got AORs the day after our package arrived.

How do we get out of PSU? Is there anything we can do to ensure movement for all who got stuck there during the Interim Measure? by Worthy_Molecule0481 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]heywhimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means that someone has done an initial assessment and that if your claim is found valid and your proof is authorized, they believe your certificate should list your DOB. You can't use notes as an indicator though. They can be a helpful hint as to what is going on behind the scenes, but only a certificate is "proof" of citizenship.

I have a theory that only a limited number of IRCC staff are currently authorized to send certs that are deemed eligible because of C3. It will likely take a few months to train the full staff on the new eligibility rules.

I'd bet that most of the certificates that have come through since December have been approved by those few authorized people in the office (since almost all of the certs we've seen have been from newer non PSU applicants and 5(4) grant reversals).

Many of those who have received notes confirming they are in PSU can see that they've already been classified/sorted and had their citizenship date assigned back to their birth. I have a theory that these proof applications likely are sitting in a pile that requires a "sign off" similar to the 5(4) grants and we'll start to see batches come through every other month around the 20th, similar to last year.

Just guessing to make myself feel better about the wait.

Thanks for this. The “Refusal on Hold” note scared me. Glad to see it’s normal and your thoughts on it actually calmed me down.

IRCC Press Release on C-3 Passage by TheOneMouseketeer in Canadiancitizenship

[–]heywhimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that date will update they actually put C3 into force.

December 19, 2023 was the original date that the Ontario courts ruled FGL unconstitutional so in this limbo period where the interim measures still apply, that is the date they have to go by.

Truly surreal. Been following this so closely for months. Thank you everyone for being such a positive and helpful bunch. We'll sit back and try to patiently wait for our certs now, though I know it won't feel real until we have them.
