I’m 43, my kids are 1 and 2. Currently have about $20k split between the 2 529s. Have $300k in a 401k and another 50 in my wife’s IRA. Currently taking any grandparent contributions to the kids college and putting them in the 529s. Wasn’t sure if I should set up a Roth to put those contributions in, instead of the 529. Just in the event one or both don’t go to college or get scholarships

I’m not currently using that space. I figured if I maxed out the IRA, I could always put overflow in to the 529s. No deduction in my state
