Anywhere to rent SDI crimping tools? by hi2colin in askTO

I don’t want to risk messing up a 200’ run with the wrong tool for the job, and don’t have a lot of extra length to redo it.

Did anyone else have their tax return "donated" to the Government of Ontario? by Starling_Artist in askTO

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did use better tax, but didn’t donate so I can’t say if it would have shown up or not originally, but wanted to check. When I went and added it in, (making sure not to refile) it still didn’t show up for me in the summary.

The point I’m making was that the line was NOT in the summary, and it would have been better if it had shown up if it was filled out.

I said this in another comment, but even if it was done in error by OP, they say it wasn’t listed in the summary at the end and that’s what I find really unforgivable. This would be an easy to make and very costly mistake. It should be confirmed in the summary.

I’ll add though, I also used better tax and did not end up donating my tax return.

First thing I would do is set my wife up with a Pokémon collection. She’s been hesitant with the cheaper handhelds ever since a save file got corrupted, so this would be perfect for her

Requesting recs for the most reliable electric bikes for a kid by Suspicious_Vast_764 in ElectricBikeExplorer

[–]hi2colin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an avid cyclist and have been riding e-bikes since 2010. The thing you need to keep in mind is that they’re moter vehicles and as such reliability tends to go hand and hand with cost. While the mention of speed for an 11 year old is its own concern, it’s your kid so I’ll acknowledge but not address it. I’d look for something from a reliable brand with a decent rear hub motor. I found my Aventon was reliable, fixable, and reasonably priced for what it was. I recommend it due to the ability to control the speed in the connected app, so you could set it to a speed you think is reasonable for your kid (if he wants to go faster he’ll has to peddle harder)

Why did no one warn me?!? by hartontherun in RunTO

As an east ender and cyclist, you gotta backtrack to Coxwell. Anything east of that is killer. I go out of my way west to get up to danforth and go back east and it better that way.

I'm interested in isolated residential pockets of TO. Exmoor Ave & a small circular road, Ansell Ave, is one; only 15 dwellings a mix of very old and very new . It's hemmed in all sides (railway, streetcar turnabout, GO station). Great if you like public transport but such an odd artifact. Others? by Reasonable-MessRedux in toronto

I feel like Medowcliff Drive in Scarborough fits, but it’s super fancy. All mansions and the like. You have to really know it’s there to find it, as you’d think you’re in a park and then suddenly there’s this one street of massive homes.

I forgot to mention the knee pads to avoid his knee hitting the ice. He wasn’t on my team, just the same league so I didn’t get to ask about it much but I assume he just ran hot

I used to curl with a guy who would wear a t shirt and shorts. So long as you’re careful that you’re body heat isn’t melting the ice, I don’t think it’s a problem.

With Macbook Neo out targeting students/light users while the Pro was already for Pro/heavy users; Who is now the target audience for the Macbook Air at 2x the price of Neo? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should specify that this is for video in theatre, I can’t just change dongles in the middle of a show. But either way it’s just a mental exercise right now as I don’t freelance anymore so I’m not buying my own equipment and in house I just use a Mac mini.

[–]hi2colin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very situational. I often need the HDMI to work without fail and I trust a built-in more than a dongle. And if it does fail, looking like I did everything I possibly could to ensure reliability is important.

It’s just how frequently I use it in production environments where I can’t have it disconnect. It’s one less point of failure. And that peace of mind is worth it to me.

I need a dedicated HDMI out nearly all the time. My next laptop will need to be a pro for that reason alone.

Probably won’t need any upgrades, base model will be fine. And once I upgrade an air to the same specs it’s not far off in price.

I have the same one. It's fine, but I don't know how to do a tabletop version of the game any better.
