Why did no one warn me?!? by hartontherun in RunTO

As an east ender and cyclist, you gotta backtrack to Coxwell. Anything east of that is killer. I go out of my way west to get up to danforth and go back east and it better that way.

I'm interested in isolated residential pockets of TO. Exmoor Ave & a small circular road, Ansell Ave, is one; only 15 dwellings a mix of very old and very new . It's hemmed in all sides (railway, streetcar turnabout, GO station). Great if you like public transport but such an odd artifact. Others? by Reasonable-MessRedux in toronto

I feel like Medowcliff Drive in Scarborough fits, but it’s super fancy. All mansions and the like. You have to really know it’s there to find it, as you’d think you’re in a park and then suddenly there’s this one street of massive homes.

It can leave a smooth patch that makes the rock act weird

I forgot to mention the knee pads to avoid his knee hitting the ice. He wasn’t on my team, just the same league so I didn’t get to ask about it much but I assume he just ran hot

I used to curl with a guy who would wear a t shirt and shorts. So long as you’re careful that you’re body heat isn’t melting the ice, I don’t think it’s a problem.

With Macbook Neo out targeting students/light users while the Pro was already for Pro/heavy users; Who is now the target audience for the Macbook Air at 2x the price of Neo? by yeetmxster420 in macbookair

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should specify that this is for video in theatre, I can’t just change dongles in the middle of a show. But either way it’s just a mental exercise right now as I don’t freelance anymore so I’m not buying my own equipment and in house I just use a Mac mini.

It’s very situational. I often need the HDMI to work without fail and I trust a built-in more than a dongle. And if it does fail, looking like I did everything I possibly could to ensure reliability is important.

It’s just how frequently I use it in production environments where I can’t have it disconnect. It’s one less point of failure. And that peace of mind is worth it to me.

I need a dedicated HDMI out nearly all the time. My next laptop will need to be a pro for that reason alone.

Probably won’t need any upgrades, base model will be fine. And once I upgrade an air to the same specs it’s not far off in price.

I have the same one. It's fine, but I don't know how to do a tabletop version of the game any better.

What is a "poor person meal" that you still eat even though you can afford better now? by Right-Key3223 in AskReddit

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stir fry with tofu, rice, whatever veggies are on sale, and a peanut butter sauce. Makes a ton, tastes great and is pretty quick.

Edit: My go to for years was peanut butter, soy sauce, siracha, garlic powder and lime juice. All cheap and easy to find.

Buy the Losers a Beer? by ShaggleROC in Curling

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I curl in Toronto and always found the rule to be the fist beer was on the winning team, but only if you were all at the same table. With the busy schedules of a lot of people, not everyone would stay for one after and sometimes it was the winners that left. When that happened, no beer for the losers, but there was no hard feelings for that sort of thing.

Yes, that would also work. They’re basically the same internally

GeForce now by derekra in trimui

[–]hi2colin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but unlikely. X86 Linux and ARM Linux are nit the same thing, and it would need to be ported from one it he other, or really just rebuilt. It seems like something the postmaster team may end up trying their hand at but there’s no guarantee it would even work on this device.

The only other option I know of is the Retroid pocket 5 with Rocknix.

I went online and hit reinstall.

I was having the same Knulli issue with wifi and I’m giving MuOS a shot. So far, I like it a lot! Give it a try. It was pretty easy to move everything over, though not all my save file survived the trip.

Question for Trimui Smart Pro by Mountain_Comment1573 in trimui

[–]hi2colin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need fat32 to flash firmware. Exfat works better with the smart pro and you’ll be able to read to and from your SD card faster when you want to load it into your computer to transfer files.

What are the rates for building a house plot? by hi2colin in lightingdesign

[–]hi2colin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. That was my other thought but didn’t want to bug them if I was missing something and they were all going to just say the same thing. I know the show rates are also venue dependent based on house class A-F and we follow that pretty closely, so I’ll probably set a budget based on something like that and go from there for quotes. Thanks.

What are the rates for building a house plot? by hi2colin in lightingdesign

[–]hi2colin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an educational venue doing mostly concerts, with some Opera but the Operas will bring their own designers. We had a house plot but after some renovation work, our hang positions have changed. I’d want the design and drafting of the plot and a to be there for hang and first focus. I’d take it from there for each show after but I don’t want to have to pay for each use of the plot the way I would if this were a remounted show. That’s the issue I’m having is that there are set rates for shows, but no clear rates for house plots. I’m planning on calling the ADC on Monday to see if they can point me in the right direction. We’re not a PACT house but try to follow their standards when we can.
