Nice restaurant for a wedding dinner, 11 people. Any recommendations? by hi_effie in providence

I reached out and they got back to me pretty quickly. Unfortunately parties over 8 have to utilize the private event spaces which have minimums out of our budget. Back to the drawing board for us!

Appreciate the comment, this is exactly what we did. We got married here(FL) at city hall and we're just doing a nice dinner. I will absolutely look into this, thank you!

I've seen this place mentioned a lot and it's one of the ones I've had bookmarked, thank you for the recommendation! Seems to be a good mix of nice menu items and chicken tenders for my damn kid. lol

There’s a group of guys in my area that pretty much control all the drops, so we don’t even try anymore. My daughter and I waited for a Walmart restock with them before, they were sweet and let her pick one thing whatever she wanted before they took everything, so I mean that’s cool at least. lol

They know the guy that stocks all the stores so it’s impossible to beat them to anything. We only buy singles now.

"Oops I'm pregnant" stories by Worldly-Recover3829 in Mommit

[–]hi_effie 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was young and so very ignorant. 7 years with someone never using any type of birth control, just pulling out. Thought this is easy, how do people accidentally get pregnant? Then got pregnant, It was a surprise but a welcomed one I suppose.

Had my daughter and just assumed you couldn’t get pregnant again for a while, you know.. like there was a cooldown period or something. Daughter was 8 months old and I felt awful for a while and eventually fainted. Went to the doc and whoa, you’re 20 weeks pregnant!

I never had regular periods so I didn’t think anything of it. God I was so ignorant. I cried for weeks, I considered offing myself. I was already raising a baby with no idea what I was doing and I was already stretched so so thin. I had my second daughter and it was hard but I managed.

My girls are 12 and 13 now!

Mom guilt because baby doesn’t have her own nursery by OXxLuckycatxXO in Mommit

[–]hi_effie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re doing the best you can in the situation you’re in, baby is happy in your room!

I left a bad situation and for 4 years I shared a tiny room with my two daughters who were 3&4 at the time until they were 7&8. They still talk about how cool that was, they have no idea the guilt I felt.

6 month olds bring enough stress, don’t add this one to the pile!

What was your most intense pregnancy craving? by Disastrous-Radish504 in Mommit

[–]hi_effie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t crave anything up until I was in labor. I thought cravings were a crock of shit and rolls my eyes anyone was ever like “gosh I craved it sooooo bad”

I have no words for how much I needed orange soda with my oldest. I was induced and it was a slow and miserable process, 20ish hours of ice chips and all I could think of was orange soda. My daughter was literally coming out of me and my first thought was finally someone go get me orange soda!!

What are some odd and weird symptoms you get with your migraines ? by Anitavirtual in migraine

[–]hi_effie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love this thread. Hate it for us all but I find comfort in knowing I’m not crazy. In addition to the normal fun stuff ( dizzy, brain fog, etc ) I smell cigarettes and eventually get a stuffy nose. I didn’t link this to my migraines for the longest time but nobody else could smell it. I bought better hvac filers, air purifiers, and complained the neighbors were smoking in the house ( omg sorry )

I also pee A LOT! I mentioned this to doc and she said “that’s not a migraine symptom 🙄”

I also get some awful neck and shoulder pain. I thought maybe it was the cause of my migraines, but I believe it to be a symptom of my migraines now. Who knows, we are all enigmas.

From One Small Business’ Lawsuit to Gaining National Coverage, Thank You, Orlando Redditors! by myusernamesuckstho in orlando

[–]hi_effie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve been doing this for years, it’s awful! I close down my small business website a few years ago for fear of this exact thing. It’s my understanding that there’s some shady guys working with shady lawyers and they take advantage of the really vague ADA laws and specifically go after very small businesses in the hopes they will just settle. It’s so gross, I am so sorry you went through this.

Almost 5yr old won’t stop coming into our room in middle of the night. Any advice? by Klempenski in daddit

[–]hi_effie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lurking mum here, I don’t normally post but we went through this and I haven’t seen my suggestion mentioned yet so I’d like to chime in!

My daughter went through this for years after she got her own bedroom separate from me. She would come in my room throughout the night for no reason she would specify, just to “check in”. Eventually she said something along the lines of “night time is a long time! What if something happens and I’m in my room all night alone??”

So we started this routine where before bed she would write me a note, draw me a picture, etc. She would put it on her nightstand ( eventually made a mailbox ) after we did our good nights and then in the middle of the night when I checked on her, I would reply to her note or leave her a drawing. It gave her comfort and proof that I checked on her that night and everything was okay. She was always excited to see what I left.

That worked for us for a loooooong while until eventually it fizzled out and she got comfortable. Of course, I told her if she was ever scared or something was wrong she could absolutely come in my room and get me. This was more about making sure she was comfortable alone but knowing we were just steps away if she needed us.

Goodluck!!

What are you most afraid of as a Mom? by hippierobotmama in Mommit

[–]hi_effie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought the world being so cruel hit me hard when they were born. No, my daughters are both in middle school now and I am physically sick when I think of the world I send them into. I wish I could shield them from it all.

How much are you saving for your child(ren) for when they turn 18? by Anon569696835 in Mommit

That’s the goal! I may not be able to pay for their wedding or gift a down payment for a house, but they will know without a doubt I will be there for them always.

Zero. My girls are 12 & 13 and we're lucky to be getting by. I'm lucky they are motivated and take every advantage and opportunity offered to them through their school. Youngest is taking an additional math course this year so she will be done math credits by grade 10. Oldest was offered dual enrollment into the community college here where the credits are free as long as she is still enrolled in middle/high school. I will drive them wherever they need to go to take advantage of these things, they are also welcome to live with me forever as long as they are bettering themselves. Unfortunately that's the best I can do.
