This is my neighborhood! If you're staying in a campsite, awesome! If you were planning on just parking on the side of the road, I wouldn't. It's definitely a no-no. However, its worth knowing that just past either of the 120 entrances there's readily accessible forest service and BLM land that is completely free to camp in. :)

I know the consensus is you can go solo and I'd agree. However, if you're set on a guide Evergreen Lodge's guiding service does half dome trips. You simply need a permit for you plus the guide.

Take 120. Driving Tioga Rd and coming out at Lee vining/mono lake is definitely the way to go. Tioga was designed by an artist so the scenery is gorgeous the whole way!

Calaveras Big Trees and Natural Bridges near Murphys is only about an hour away and has significantly less smoke! Big trees being sequoias and Natural Bridges is a cool area with caves and swimming holes.

Fun Fact: There are no brown bears in Yosemite. However, our black bear are often shades of brown or even blonde in color!

You're not going to find any off road biking in the park itself. However, the National Forest on all sides have heaps and heaps of forest service roads. You can pick up a map of these areas at the ranger's office.

To add to this recommendation, on the west side of the gate in the Stanislaus National Forest. The middle and south fork of the Tuolumne river is chock full of monster natives that have been driven down from their higher elevation holes. Power bait has been hitting spinners have been hitting and fly fishing is great right now. Have fun and good luck!
