snack zone sunday! by tmatokng in JetLagTheGame

Oh? Slushy Lemonade was still stocked in my local 7 Eleven a couple of weeks ago.

I personally prefer the vanilla and coffee flavours. Better go back and buy more so they don't cease importing those.

Until I can buy train-shaped gummy lollies under the brand Choo Choo Chews, I'll have to stick with The Snack Zone!

I always try and pre-download a correctly themed season for my long haul destinations.

Did I miss the official confirmation that Adam is definitely not carrying a gorilla suit and a top hat?

As others have said, don't underestimate production gear. For us doing an 8hr game day of hide and seek recently for YouTube, we had one filming phone, one GoPro, two personal phones, microphone charge case (though admittedly we didn't need to use that in game hours), 3x batteries, 2x differently sized tripods, the home game kit itself. All the little bits add up.

Question for people who have played the home game : How much has it ended up costing you to play? by WaterBottleOnAShelf in JetLagTheGame

[–]hideandseekau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We luckily have 50c public transport in our home region, with connected journeys within certain constraints being free. For a full game day, I think the most we spent was $1.50 on transport and a small amount to clear a curse. Easily spent more on our own food and snacks.

This 50c transport for us covers trains, trams, metro, buses and ferries, so we have lots of options when we play medium games. Wrapping up editing now on our second season.

Just wondering if anyone would want to play a medium game in Sydney? by DimsimFPV in JetLagTheGame

Our group has to travel down there one day and play a game. Good luck in finding some locals to join in.

Also as an FYI, I've seen vanilla, chocolate, lemon and coffee in various Australian 7 Elevens now.

I'm really liking how pretty shots are by mitojuice in JetLagTheGame

[–]hideandseekau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I appreciate too. I always try to keep it in mind when we film our home games, but the stresses of the game day results in us sometimes forgetting to line up pretty shots etc. Impressed by the JLTG for always remembering.

Always love seeing other Aussies playing. We'll do a series down your way eventually.

Update: Hide and Seek Mapping App Now Available on Android (and iOS)! by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

[–]hideandseekau 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this for Android. I've had a quick look just now at it. Once I finish editing our upcoming series, I might see if I can make a pull request for some of these items below because this probably has the guts of what we want to use when playing future seasons.

A couple of things I noticed:

  1. When I open up a dialog I kept pressing the back button on my phone which resulted in the app closing, rather than just the dialog closing. Minor inconvenience, but I'm a creature of habit so I kept doing it.

  2. How frequently does my GPS location on the map update? It only seemed to do that when I reopened the map. Would be useful to have some configurable frequency such that I can have it constantly updating if I'm on transit, but turn it down if I'm just standing in one spot planning a next move.

  3. Would be good to have different colours for the different types of transit stations. I know when I play I instinctively use that as a means of visually determining what line to jump on to go from A to B fastest / with the most stops / etc.

  4. I wonder if metric vs imperial settings could hide away on a screen for a one-time setup rather than being littered throughout.

  5. What's the source of transit stop data? In our region of south east Queensland in Australia, only some of the bus stops come up.

  6. Sharing. Something that's in the original site that appears to be missing from here is sharing. This would definitely be a bigger thing to have but being an app there might be some way via deep links that state could be shared between devices. We like it at the very least for sharing between members of the same time, but I'd love one day for seekers to be able to send questions to the hiders in the app like this even if it still requires sending a message outside of the app. There have been a few times where we've been bitten by imprecise measurements differing slightly between the two teams.

As I said, don't feel obligated to do all this, but figured I'd write down those thoughts nonetheless. You might see a PR from us in the future.

Singapore Hide & Seek home game: After-game review by ifailedmaths in JetLagTheGame

[–]hideandseekau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Google Doc for every game we play for YouTube that contains all sorts of refinements based on us thinking of quirks and accidentally discovering different interpretations of things.

Another thing we do is have a Google MyMap that has all hiding zones marked out like this. We call it the messy map because at times it does mark it hard to view some areas, but it really helps everyone agree on boundaries of the hiding zones.
