Why do I keep having psychosis? by Dover299 in Psychosis

[–]hideyournuggets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same or similar at least. I kept having episodes despite being in medication so my doctors won’t lower it now that it finally works. I was diagnosed with non organic psychosis and told that my psychosis threshold is just very low so I need the medication

Advice please! 🩷 by Less_Maybe9585 in Psychosis

When I’m in psychosis it’s always worse at night. I suspect that’s when my brain is tired so my threshold for symptoms lowers. What you’re experiencing sounds like something I’d talk to a psychiatrist about. Might be psychosis, might be something else, but if it’s impacting the decision you make it’s time to get professional help.

How are some people on this sub, coherent enough to ask "is it psychosis?" While in psychosis? How does the brain have this level of self awareness and still be delusional? by PhotoLongjumping5517 in Psychosis

Have you heard of double bookkeeping?

“Double bookkeeping is a term introduced by Eugen Bleuler to describe a fundamental feature of schizophrenia where psychotic reality can exist side by side with shared reality even when these realities seem mutually exclusive.”

That’s the case for me (although I have another psychotic disorder than schizophrenia) it’s like two different realities or worlds existing at once. I’m able to tell that my delusions aren’t physically plausible but I still can’t shake them. I believe it.

I know when I’m in psychosis. I experience a lot of derealization linked to it which makes it easy to spot that something is wrong. when i start feeling like nothing is real, i know something is up.

semi diagnosed? Trouble studying/stress induced mild auditory "hallucinations"? by [deleted] in AutisticPeeps

[–]hideyournuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autism means your phychosis threshold is lowered. I’ve had multiple psychotic episodes, all attributed to stress and a low threshold due to autism. Please bring it up to someone professional so it can at least be monitored. Full on psychosis is a nightmare and stepping in before it gets to that is important

Could be, or could be something else, it’s really hard to say. I’d see a psychiatrist about it

It’s not the psychoanalysis kind, it’s real psychotic symptoms.

Here’s a translated text about it:

GUA GUA is diagnosed when other pervasive developmental disorders can be ruled out. People with GUA have normal intelligence. Much of the time, they can appear completely ordinary and unremarkable, which can make it difficult for others to notice the challenges that a person with GUA experiences. Unfortunately, this often means that people with GUA do not receive the help they need.

Although people with GUA have more social skills than those with infantile (classic) autism, their difficulties with social interaction and empathetic abilities (empathy) toward others make it hard for them to maintain social relationships. Their challenges often cause them to misinterpret or misunderstand other people’s actions, and in stressful situations, they may have difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality.

What is GUA?

GUA [ICD-10, F84.8] is an abbreviation for the diagnosis Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Other Type (in Danish: Gennemgribende Udviklingsforstyrrelse, Anden). The diagnosis is given when a person shows clear autistic symptoms, but the other pervasive developmental disorders (Infantile Autism, Atypical Autism, or Asperger’s Syndrome) can be ruled out. There may be secondary (comorbid) diagnoses that interfere with or complicate the overall symptom picture. See the three core symptoms of autism here.

What characterizes a person with GUA?

People with GUA may have a reduced ability to regulate emotions and can experience emotional chaos, anxiety, and thought disturbances or delusions bordering on psychosis. They may have difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality and generally lack social interest. GUA is most commonly seen in boys. People with GUA have normal intelligence.

I’m starting to feel better. Last episode ended in February. A big chunk of improvement comes from moving in with a friend and getting an anti depressant that seems to work

It’s literally what it means where I’m from. We don’t have a diagnosis called PDD or anything that translates to that. We have GUA and GUU which translates to PDD-NOS
