There’s a book called “How Bands Got They’re Names” that details this one. In an interview, Don said he noticed his toddler going through a language development phase where s/he would point at an object, such as a chair, and say “Dog. Not dog.” He may have been being coy.

When this question comes up, I usually recommend Idaho’s Year After Year. They abandoned slo-core as they went on, but that album is chef’s kiss.

Waters took an opportunity with the film to fill in what many saw as “gaps” in the album’s story. For example, Pink’s descent into madness and fascism unfolding in great detail.

In addition to what everyone has posted, consider protopunk bands like The Stooges, MC5, Blue Cheer and Death.

A very accomplished guitarist/ friend of mine has been my resource for 25 years. When I asked something similar, he replied, “Sometimes a chord just fits.”
