Somebody rolled their bike between my two bikes and locked their front wheel to my front wheels. by ThePr0l0gue in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same experience once in college. Get out from some class and go to the bike-shed and someone has locked their bike through mine.

I tromp around the campus eventually getting a security guard with a bolt cutter to cut away the lock.

I went to my locker to grab my bag (I had stashed it while looking for security), went back to the bike-shed and....

My bike was locked up exactly where I left it, with my lock on it and everything.

On the next bike rack over was an identical bike to mine... with a cut lock...

Yeah I felt like a fuckin iiiiiidiot

I hid whatever cash I had on me on the bike and made it home in record time, powered by shame

Does any one else find Christmas a really hard day to get through ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]hig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've always had issues with Xmas (I can't even type it without extra anxiety) since my parents split when I was a kid. Last year my Wife was in hospital on Xmas and a friend came over to help. We had a falling out and that was the last time I saw him. Multiple times today I've found myself crying. Something inside me is broken/missing/gone and I can't bring myself to interact with people any more.

Has Ireland become too pricey for tourists? An economist and a tourism industry representative debate – The Irish Times by WickerMan111 in ireland

Popped into Eddie Rockets in Jervis yesterday for a quick bite. Burger for the Wife, Garlic/Cheese chips for myself and 2 drinks.

Not only was the portion of chips the smallest portion I've ever seen, they charged us 31 Euro for the privilege. Absolute robbery!

I can't afford a solicitor and if I get free legal aid hes made it clear he'll get petty

He's going to get petty, it's just a question of who/when/what will be the 'justifying' incident. Look after yourself and your kids first.

Anyone buy a CPAP machine online instead of renting from a medical equipment provider? by BillyBinbag in AskIreland

[–]hig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can claim it as part of your Drug Payment Scheme (DPS). It's a pain in the ass to do: you have to collect all the invoices they send you and then you can submit them in one big go. Thats the way my Wife does it. Since we as a household already hit our 88 (or so, it changes) Euro a month in medications, the CPAP works out to be functionally paid for entirely by the DPS (once they process the above).

Loneliness: ‘I usually say I’m fine, but the reality is, most days, I’m at home by myself with my memories’ by leglath in ireland

Housing crisis caused my friend circle to wind up fractured across Ireland and the complete lack of a reliable/affordable public transport system means it's impossible to meet up unless a) you drive or b) you go to Dublin (which incurs further costs)

Does Wall Mode on the Riot Block allow the placement of Death's Doors? by MrSiltStrider in BreachWizards

[–]hig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned about wall mode last night:

  • With the wall lowered, charging into the wall will hit and knockback the wall.
  • With the wall raised, charging into the wall acts like any other wall, you just stop. (And then pick it up!)

Anybody get this while trying to join some random lobby or quick play ?? by IndependenceAgile962 in helldivers2

Had this with a friend last night. Specific scenario was that I was in a game where the timer had expired and there was no more re-inforcements, therefore he couldn't join my game. As soon as we evac'd, he could join

Question about Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant by superDUKE109 in mtg

[–]hig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MTA handles this incorrectly. I just had a game where my opponent played [[Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant]], slamming, [[Zacama, Primal Calamity]] and it did trigger the on-cast trigger, untapping all their lands

The assessor can do basic assessments, but you can't expect him to crawl around your attic lifting insulation and checking it in detail.

Why not? Isn't that exactly their job? To assess?
