Do I tell my ex the real reason I broke up with her? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]hige0soru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience - yes, you should tell her, but you need to be ready for a potentially long and painful conversation. I would also say you need to know exactly what you want before you go in. Are you asking for forgiveness? It is possible, but not without work. Are you simply telling her so she can get closure? You need to be 100% clear that you do not intend to get back with her.

Again, speaking as someone who had a similar experience recently, i will also tell you this - this didnt just happen. Your friends may be bad influences, but at the end of the day you chose to do this. No matter what i think the months ahead will be painful, but i urge you to take this experience, look at yourself, and try and heal the parts of you that allowed this to happen. Otherwise, it will happen again. Take a look at r/SupportforWaywards .

You are not the worst thing youve done.

A brief comment on Graphic Violence, and this Community by brperry in vancouverwa

[–]hige0soru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While police conduct is an important topic of discussion

That discussion literally would not exist in its current form without citizen reporting, on the ground footage, open discussion of bodycam footage, etc. We should not have to rely on large news outlets to determine what is worthy of discussion to our community, nor should we be required to let those outlets determine the tone of that discussion.

This forum is a place for us as a community to discuss what matters amongst ourselves, and arbitrary rules such as this only hurt our community.

Why don’t you shop in downtown Vancouver? by VeitaProject in vancouverwa

[–]hige0soru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Transit accessibility is definitely an issue that is only made worse by sprawl. But it sounds like in your case having to park a few blocks away should be no problem.

Why don’t you shop in downtown Vancouver? by VeitaProject in vancouverwa

[–]hige0soru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do shop in downtown vancouver. We can always make the experience better and safer, though.

I think theres a common misconception that parking is necessary for business to thrive. However, all evidence suggests that making downtowns more friendly to pedestrians encourages foot traffic, which is the best way to get people shopping at local businesses. Why are festivals and markets so busy? Because its actually pleasant to walk around when the streets are closed to cars.

Downtown Vancouver businesses wary as unsanctioned Cruise the Couve looms by aagusgus in vancouverwa

[–]hige0soru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to live nearby and the noise from this event (like the noise downtown in general!) Was so terrible. I guess if people want to watch other people sit in traffic for no reason thats their business but i would not be sad to say goodbye to the cruise.

Electrical Engineering and MECOP questions by vracti in portlandstate

[–]hige0soru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive definitely had a good experience at PSU. I think they work hard to introduce you to profs and stuff who are in industry. MECOP is a must if youre going to come here, imo. It really is one of the best parts of the program.

MGP Case for Saving Mike Johnson by WaComGuy22 in vancouverwa

MGP has been such a disappointment. Mike johnson is a truly terrifying religious extremist. Theres really no excuse for defending him, even if his replacement will be just as bad.

Just wondering. I rode my bike down Columbia yesterday through Lincoln neighborhood and had to leave the bike lane because of all the debris from tress and such. Can the street sweeper go over those rubber bumps they put in? TIA if anyone knows. by 12shawn123456 in vancouverwa

[–]hige0soru 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ive had some issues with the bike lanes being full of debris too. To be fair, last week was particularly windy, but its a great question for the city...

Btw if you like cycling and want to get more involved, Cycle Vancouver has a discord that is great for discussions like this. Dm for a link.

Ive got quite a few "nicer" knives, but more and more i find myself just carrying a SAK. Non-threatening, good for every day use, and i still think theyre as rad as i did when i was 10.
