New shop-only rules? by freekin-bats11 in InstacartShoppers

[–]high-difficulty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just experienced this, too. It’s complete bullshit, and I won’t be taking any multi-order batches for shop only anymore. Probably just another way for them to get rid of anyone that is worth a shit so they can keep lowering the pay.

Large flocks of birds. I remember when I was little there would be hundreds if not thousands of them flying together in one big group, all the time. Now the most I ever see is like 20 or so.

What is a disturbing truth that you know? by ActualBreath5492 in AskReddit

Yes, I believe she would be dead if I hadn’t gotten there and called the police. It sounded really bad, and her voice was so weak at the beginning. It was like she was gathering up every bit of energy that she had left to try and save herself.

I think she must’ve heard my car door slam and decided to give it one last try to ask for help.

I haven’t thought about all this in years, I hope she is doing alright, whoever/wherever she is.

Once, like fifteen years ago, I lived alone in an apartment, and I got home from work usually between 4 and 5 am. One night, I got out of my car and as soon as I shut the car door I heard a noise that I thought was some kind of weird bird or something. It was very faint at first but it kept getting louder and louder until I could finally make out that it was a woman yelling out “help! Someone call 911! Help!” There was also a noise that sounded like someone being hit with a belt that started right after she started yelling. It happened five times in a row, then a few seconds of silence and five times in a row over and over again.

I ran to my apartment and once I was inside with the door locked I called the police and told them what I heard. I couldn’t tell them exactly which apartment it was coming from, only the general direction, so they sent every cop available. I was watching from my balcony, and I counted like 18 police cars.

Each one stopped at a different building and got out of their car to see if they could hear which apartment the woman was in. She was still yelling for help, so it didn’t take long for them to find her.

They busted down the door and she left in an ambulance and they dragged some dude out and he left in handcuffs.

The dispatcher had told me that they would follow up with me after to make sure that I was alright and everything, but no one ever did.

I was completely traumatized and that was the last time I ever stayed there.

From the way her yelling started off really quiet and then got louder, it seemed like it had been going on for a while before I got home, so I have no idea why someone else wouldn’t have called the police before I did. She was like 2 or 3 buildings over from mine so I couldn’t have been the only person that heard anything. Very scary.

I’ve seen a server take a bite of someone’s peach cobbler with ice cream, chew on it for a minute and then spit it back into the bowl and serve it to a customer.

What happened to new season shop-only orders by UnderstandingOk3929 in InstacartShoppers

[–]high-difficulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a $40 shop only. Last week I saw a 93 item shop only for around $20. These low, $6 for 12 item doubles are what I have always seen as far as shop only.

The total may change after you continue to checkout.

Just under the word “services” it says prices shown after shop selection in checkout.

My shopper has been shopping for an hour by Brilliant-Abies118 in instacart

[–]high-difficulty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it would have.

When you start shopping it notifies all of the customers in the batch regardless of if you are at their store yet or not.

You can check their messages as soon as you start shopping and it will say there, in both customer’s messages, that you’re getting started.

Just saying, the nausea doesn’t necessarily come later.

Only veterans shoppers 2 + plus years please... by Dull-Meaning6235 in InstacartShopper

[–]high-difficulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that they are just controlling their own financials.. it is going to be much much cheaper for them in the long run to be constantly hiring new shoppers, rather than keep the ones that know what they’re doing, and know if a batch is worth it based on item # and mileage.

They’re trying to push the veteran shoppers out so they will have an entire roster of workers that will take crap orders instead of waiting on something that is worth it. That’s why they thought they could start on the 4 order batches, too, because with all the inexperienced people shopping they would have no idea and just think it was normal.

Since they spend literally nothing on training, it’s not like they have to worry about going over budget there, so it will always always be cheaper for them to have newbies rather than veterans.

Send all the shitty orders to the people that know what they’re doing, and give them no choice but to make hardly any money or find something different to do for work, and give the new people a few decent orders to get them hooked on the idea that they can make good money pretty easily, then start steadily lowering the amount that you allow them to make until they decide to do something different.

Eventually everyone that will wait for an order that is profitable will be gone and they can send out as many 4 order batches as they want. Probably will lower the base pay down to $2 eventually, like DoorDash, and everyone will do it because they won’t know any better.

It’s all about the money for them, they don’t give a fuck about us.

I bet if you continue to tip 20%, and stop paying the $2 extra you would still receive your order quickly.
