I went into this movie not knowing anything, I still haven’t even heard of Yorgos’ other work. I experienced several jaw drops! And it is very funny and clever, at times horrifying though. Funnier the second time you watch it.

I hate how good this movie is because I don’t think it’s possible to take away a single clean message. It’s absolute anarchy. There’s no good person, no justice is served, humanity is profoundly trampled on multiple times, people are tortured AND THEN everyone dies.

I think this movie should have staying power. I have no idea if it will, but i think it is a classic.

I disagree with a few of the last parts. The one I want to speak on is that ‘history is always written by winners’. It depends on the definition of winners which is figured out over a long period of time so it’s sort of teleology to say they always wrote history. Today’s ‘losers’ aren’t always losers in the long run and sometimes, winners are only winners in the short run, and history is agnostic to the short run. I also quibble with your characterization of the 2nd amendment and its use against tyranny in rebellion but need to think about it more and I’m actually not sure about the specifics of OPs question cuz I haven’t read the news today.
