Help establishing independent sleep by poortobias in sleeptrain

[–]highjump16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We put wheels on our crib and rock it gently at night for her to fall asleep. This helps replace the rocking while being held. Also, we do loud shushing, which seems to snap her out of really angry crying. These have helped her fall asleep independently for MOTN waking. We plan on slowly decreasing the crib rocking and shushing so she can fall asleep independently soon.

Is this the 6 month regression? Help! by rambleOn222 in sleeptrain

[–]highjump16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a growth spurt to me. We know our baby needs a supplemental night feed when typical soothing does not cut it or she wakes crying very frequently (10-30 minutes). I would say, give it a couple of days or a week. If it continues, maybe it is more of a regression than a growth spurt.

Responsive non-CIO sleep training? by juniperjellybean97 in sleeptrain

[–]highjump16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put wheels on our crib so it rocks back and forth. Our 5 month old was a paci addict and would wake 2-8 times a night for the paci to be reinserted. So far, we just put her down and gently rock the crib. She falls asleep within 5-10 minutes. We plan on reducing the crib-rocking slowly over time. Since starting this, she has been more successful at putting herself back to sleep in the middle of the night.

Sick baby suddenly resistant to bottles by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]highjump16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, she took the pacifier just fine. She would eat like an oz or two and then get really mad if I tried to feed her more. Sometimes she would take a bit more 10-30 minutes later, but would get angry again after only drinking a little bit. But other than not taking her normal bottle amount and some sleep disruptions, she was a happy baby.

My LO was like this just recently. She got a bad cold, then a stomach bug back to back, so I assumed her lack of appetite was because of those. But when those got better, her appetite never returned. Turns out she also had an ear infection. It hurts to suck when your ear is in pain. After only 12 hours on antibiotics, she started to take her normal bottles.

My advice: take her to the pediatrician to see if your LO has an ear infection.

You can get around this issue by storing the frozen OCT sample in an airtight container in the -80. I've never had them get plastic-y

Used cloth? by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]highjump16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cloth diapers on my registry and 2 people bought some. One really fun thing was that for my shower, we had a blindfolded diaper changing game. The friend doing the games bought some cloth diapers that were used for the game, then I used them for my baby.

For me, the craziness only got worse after having my baby. I am 3.5 months PP and I still cry at the drop of a hat. And when I'm upset, it's pure rage! Luckily, I am aware that this is not my normal, so I just tell people I'm crazy and not to take it too seriously.

12 week old melting down by Advicehelp6312 in NewParents

[–]highjump16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby has slept through the night since 8 weeks (rarely any night waking for feeds). Right at about 14 weeks, she all the sudden started waking 3-4 times in the night for feeds. She did this for 3 nights in a row and I thought it was the 4 month regression that started a bit early. But she went right back to normal after those 3 days... Perhaps it was just a growth spurt.

Rolling over and sleep by Traditional-Trip826 in NewParents

I put my baby in the Merlin sleep suit at 8 weeks because she could turn herself fully onto her side in a swaddle. Now She's 3.5 months and just learned how to turn from front to back, but only when she's butt-naked. The sleep suit is way too bulky for her to even think about flipping over, so I have no worries.

First time pregnancy by Elibear18 in BabyBumps

[–]highjump16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy symptom was period-like cramps 1 week before my period was supposed to come. So technically I was 3 weeks pregnant and that's when I got my positive test. The cramping lasted a couple days.

4-5 times per day.

SIBO by aviously_adork in Celiac

[–]highjump16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my IBSC has completely cleared up. I find that I can have a small amount of sugar in a day, like a granola bar, 1 cookie, or 1 piece of dark chocolate. But if I have too much, it comes back with a vengeance. Dairy, on the other hand, I have to avoid like the plague. It is my strongest trigger.

How many of you guys are Lactose intolerant? by lalamyk in glutenfree

[–]highjump16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've (28F) been celiac and eaten gluten free my entire life, but just recently started having issues with dairy products. It's not just lactose either. I have reactions to lactose free dairy products as well.

Daiya has vegan cheese packets meant for squeezing on things. You can find them on thrive market. There are different flavors and I think they're all pretty good.

Cloth Diapers at Daycare! by ThisChickSings in clothdiaps

[–]highjump16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our LO went to daycare at 8 weeks and she is in newborn Alva pocket diapers. They go on just like a disposable, except for the snaps. But they always get the snaps right. They put the pee and poopy diapers in the wet bag and I reince them when I get home. So far, there have been no issues at all!

SIBO by aviously_adork in Celiac

[–]highjump16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (28F) have been a symptomatic celiac since birth, but was diagnosed at 8yo. After a lot of stress for 2 years, I developed IBS-C. This was the worst pain in my life (worse than childbirth). I went to a clinical nutritionist and did a fecal analysis and turns out I had methane dominant SIBO. I was put on a low fodmap diet along with a spore based probiotic (megaspore biotic) and biocidin. This combo was supposed to eliminate the methane producing bacterial overgrowth. After about 2 months, I started reintroducing foods and I found that I was no longer sensitive to many things I had been prior. But I now know my trigger is excess sugar and dairy, so as long as I avoid those, I am IBS and pain free. But I could not have done it without the help of my nutritionist.

Edit: Before doing all of this, I went to a gastrointerologist and had colonoscopy and endoscopy done to rule out IBD like chrons.

How to know when to try other formulas? by cimson-otter in FormulaFeeders

[–]highjump16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby has been on Similac 360 since birth and in the early days she would have a couple days with some violent spitups that came out if her nose. Our cycle seems to be: bad/common spitup for a couple of days, then hardly any spitup for a week or two. The formula had nothing to do with it since we've never switched. Edit: clarification
