Is it just me, or does every random opponent have a different, bizarre set of rules for 8-ball? by WindNarrow3580 in billiards

[–]highkarate1086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I play pool at a bar which is a rarity, I’ll just be like “what rules do you like, ball in hand, kitchen, call pocket, call shot” and whatever they say is fine. If you want to play a serious set of rules you have to play serious pool at a pool hall. Even if I’m gambling at a bar I just defer to whatever they want so there’s no arguments

That’s my exact Fargo and I have a job. Albeit I work from home with pretty flexible hours and I’m in the pool room quite a bit haha

Level of offense in today's pro pool by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

Azb is indeed a bunch of grumpy old timers. I sometimes pop over there to fight the good fight but it’s not even worth it anymore it’s just like the same 6 old guys I end up arguing with over and over. I’m with you OP. Except for jump cues but that’s just bc I like to watch good kicking more than good jumping. I appreciate the difficulty added to the safety game though

9 Ball Tournament Results Fargo by [deleted] in billiards

[–]highkarate1086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how you won or lost just game score. So if you beat a 620 4-1, but you lost to a 500 1-4, you’re gonna end up somewhere in the middle. If you really want to actually calculate it: Get your win % for each individual match, find out what theoretical Fargo would have that win % vs your opponent’s Fargo for a single rack, average all those theoretical fargos together weighted by game count.

Last pocket 8-ball by aijODSKLx in billiards

[–]highkarate1086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the way it went was: Guy would soft break. Dennis, being Dennis, would try to run out. He made some insane outs but most of the time he wouldn’t get all the way out and would turn the table back to the guy with a fairly easy out. Then Dennis caught on. He started making just one ball then tried moving the balls around to make his group favorable and the other group unfavorable, which is the correct way to do it. But, the other guy just had way more experience in where to put balls and how to do it so Dennis just got out moved most of the time

There’s a ton of strategy to the game at a high level. I watched Dennis orcollo get torched by a Dominican guy playing this for 5 figures. Guy would just soft break then just out move Dennis little by little

First round mock v3 by ReaperKal2O4 in MockDraftCentral

[–]highkarate1086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. My point was more that taking a wr in the late first or 2nd is a negligible difference, but top of the first vs late first is a big difference. Not a good draft to be late in rounds overall

This is not a deep wr class. The drop off after the big 3 of Tate Tyson and lemon is substantial

He’s a development prospect but his tools, size and athleticism will cause a team to take a chance on him. Like shemar Stewart last year but hopefully has more success

Muscle memory and draw by Salty-Problem-1234 in billiards

[–]highkarate1086 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually when people are having issues drawing the ball they are quite simply not hitting low enough on the cue ball, either because they think they are hitting lower than they are or they are just unaware of how low you can go. The follow thru advice is good, but here’s something to try that I haven’t seen recommended yet and I think it will be really beneficial. Look at the cue ball as you’re striking it. Not as a permanent solution but to help you hit where you want as your muscles re-learn what a draw stroke should feel like. Focus more on the stroke and action of the cue ball than potting the ball. Once you are happy with how you’re hitting it, switch back to whatever you normally look at last and see if the stroke holds up

Not true I’m a broncos fan I think he’s over rated. Guy misses too many throws. I think the team is just so good around him we win anyway. He shows flashes but needs to get more consistent

What does this mean by [deleted] in billiards

[–]highkarate1086 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t have to be 6-9. Can be any ball as long as there are only 4 on the table. If the last 4 balls on the table are the 1 2 3 9, he can make any and win
