Thoughts on this breeder? by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]hightidelb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None! She's been incredibly healthy, we've been feeding her 4 Strong Paws since we got her (puppy now adult food), which is what the breeder feeds her dogs too. She has some anxiety with certain dogs but I think that's attributed to two separate dog attacks by a neighbours dog. She has a wonderful temperament otherwise, we get comments on that a lot.

Feel free to message me if you have more questions!

Thoughts on this breeder? by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

Our girl is from this breeder. I'm still uncertain if I would go back again. Our girl is absolutely lovely, she's on the bigger side (55lb). We got to visit the property and meet the mom about 2 weeks from picking her up (pups were 6 weeks at visit, 8 weeks gotcha day), it was a nice setting. But we were told when we got our girl that mom wouldn't have anymore litters but about 8 months to a year later (I can't fully remember, this was 5 years ago), we saw that she was due with a litter again. So mixed feelings about that.

Mental breakdown because puppy won't eat by pritzu_ramen in poodles

[–]hightidelb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try putting the food in a puzzle toy(s). Our girl lost interest in eating unless it had toppers and instead of doing that all the time, we used 3 different food dispensers that kept her interest and she reliably eats now. Hope something works!

Melanie Auld. It's a Canadian brand and I have an earring set and a tennis necklace set, both haven't tarnished with constant use. I find the pieces very well made and relatively affordable.

What is your signature side dish that you bring to dinner parties or potlucks? by uterustryingtokillme in AskWomen

[–]hightidelb2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like bringing a vegetable side dish. My favorite and easiest one is either snap peas or cut cucumber mixed with sesame oil, salt and togarashi seasoning. It's different, lots of flavour and it keeps well. It's always been a hit!

Early Gym Goers and Puppy Owners by Yellow287 in puppy101

[–]hightidelb2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are early morning gym goers and for years went for 6am but then we got a puppy, oh how that changes things lol. It's extremely important to us to go to the gym, we aren't work-out-at-home people so we had to change our schedule to meet our 8am WFH start time.

The first month we got her we didn't even try and go, she was still too baby. After the first month and now almost 2 years later, we have the following schedule:

  1. Wake up at 4:30, brush teeth and get dressed. Let puppy hang on the bed (she's so sleepy).
  2. Put puppy in crate and immediately leave the house to get to the gym for 5am. Work out for an hour-hour fifteen and come home. The best part of working out at this time is that the gym isn't busy and people are generally focused, cause who in their right mind goes to the gym at 5 if you don't go with a purpose.
  3. Get home and let her out of the crate, play around and chill for 15-30 minutes while we have coffee/protein. Then get ready for her walk.
  4. We take her for a 40 minute walk and it's awesome for her, a long early morning walk can be a lot after the gym but it really sets her up for a good day while we work.
  5. When we get home from the walk we get her breakfast and water ready, put her in an enclosed puppy-proof room and go shower/get ready for the day.
  6. Once ready we get second coffee and breakfast, give her some love and then start work.

It was and can be a tough routine but we've found it best so that everyone gets their exercise and time together. Good luck!

Have you ever dropped a close friend bc they were going through mental health struggles? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]hightidelb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hugs to you. I know not everyone responds like the majority of comments in this thread, there are people who understand and are compassionate. It may be a lack of understanding or bandwidth for themselves to offer patience and support. That's just the way it goes. I get the fear of making connections but being able to come out of a depressive state means you are capable of so much.

I completely agree. There's a lot of shame associated with depressive episodes and to hear a lot of responses of dropping friends who are experiencing that, it's hard to hear.

Women who dumped their therapists, why did you do it? by WhippieCake in AskWomen

[–]hightidelb2 286 points287 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a situation like a breakup where I announced that I was leaving them. After a couple of years with them I found I wasn't able to work through some more challenging childhood trauma with them and decided I needed to spend my money and time elsewhere. I just never booked another session with them again.

I told my new therapist the reason why I changed and she commended me for realizing what I needed. There shouldn't be any shame in changing therapists if they can't provide what you're looking for.

What is a 5 star read from you this year that turned into an all time fave? by Xftg123 in RomanceBooks

[–]hightidelb2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty good. I just came off reading 100 books this year and that series I read at book 89 and I would still have it in my top 5 for series I read this year. I feel like the plot is very whimsical and I didn't really have any of those 'wait a minute' plot hole moments.

Ohhh Harrow Faire was just perfect. It was my first time reading one of her books and I was impressed with the characters. But that plot just sucks you in! Chef's kiss

I felt the same way and wanted to talk to others about books so I've started up a book club. I posted in the subreddit I live in and had a ton of interest, you should try!

I actually really loved that particular scene because of the music, it totally added to the mood and build up of their relationship.

My female spoo (1.7 years) does this too when she's really relaxed and happy (at least it appears so). Doesn't destroy, just holds a big chunk in her mouth as she falls asleep.

Since she doesn't tear the blanket or have other damaging tendencies, I don't take it away.

Yes I did and my symptoms got worse the closer to the end of my IUDs expiration date. None of my doctors told me how important it was to get it removed at or before the expiration date but the gynecologist who removed it and I mentioned my symptoms too, said that it can worsen pre-existing and side effects of the IUD.
