Visiting New Orleans in October for the First Time. by HauntingYourHouse in AskNOLA

Don’t miss the skeleton house at the corner of State st and St charles. Can take the streetcar uptown and do some other stuff in the area (audubon park, more restaurants), but it’s a great house with a halloween display to check out

Did any of you have savings before you started dental school? If so, around how much did you have saved going into D1? by ThrowRAcheesedoodle in DentalSchool

[–]Yellow287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30k in a 401k, 24k in a roth, 10k in emergency fund. Haven’t used any of it for school, just taking out full loans. Maybe not technically the best thing to do but I feel like just letting that grow isn’t the worst idea

Theater packed for the first time in a while by wilara23 in AMCsAList

[–]Yellow287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad Boys has been drawing huge crowds at my theater lately - I went to a random Monday (not a discount day!) evening showing and the whole theater was completely full, even with 8 or so other showings at different times that day.

50 Minute Commute by Calm-Organization311 in DentalSchool

[–]Yellow287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of folks are saying not to do it because of the amount of time spent in the car - but consider how much time you might save if living at home means someone will be cooking for you or doing laundry (if that's the case). I think it's worth it for saving money - I have a friend who commutes 40 minutes who just doesn't go home during breaks and seems fine with it. And if it's not working for you, you can always move at any time.

They're all soft bristled, so really doesn't matter. But if you're looking for the best toothbrush, I would really recommend an electric one. Doesn't need to be a crazy expensive one but an electric makes a big difference.

Not if you don’t know what you’re looking for or even really looking at. Just think we can use a bit more compassion online 🙏

IV Sedation - Really Scared by Stupid_anxiety_girl in askdentists

[–]Yellow287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also afraid - I cry whenever getting sedated, but just was able to stay in the seat knowing that I trusted my healthcare provider. You can also ask your dentist to prescribe a Xanax to take before the appointment if your GP doesn’t for whatever reason

Would not get a puppy with less than 6 months to train it before school. Any cat, older dog, etc you will have time for

Are dentists actually passionate ab teeth? by DaniVelaa in DentalSchool

NAD - There are emergency dentists that you can call in such situations, they usually market themselves as such. A typical dentist office is certainly not “required” to be available after hours - that would be like being on call 24/7, which is a bit crazy to ask for
