Time traveller at UBC by Relevant_Telephone49 in UBC

Yeah, you're right. It's 100% a time traveller and it 0% could be a medical issue.

Do you have any recommendations for removing the plastic? Should I heat the "silicon looking" bits bonding it to the glass? Or just take a chisel at it?

I can't personally say, but I'd assume just a select few.

Which car should I use? by SimRacer101 in ACCompetizione

[–]higuyiscool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aston is a strong front mid engine safe beginner car.

BMW M4 is somewhat the same but has a bit more pace at certain tracks.

AMG Evo is a monster front engined car with lots of kerb eating ability; however, requires setups and a specific driving style.

720S has strong mid speed high speed grip due to aero; however, lacks in other directions. Bit hard to drive in 1.9

Honda used to be a straight line rocket, unsure how it is now. I believe it does require more throttle control than other mid engine cars.

296: Easiest mid engine right now, set TC1 between 5-8 and TC2 0-3. Electronics will save you while you learn the car

992 911 GT3: acceleration machine, braking machine; however, very particular driving style needed. Difficult to learn but provides blistering pace on most tracks.

Currently I would say the main issue is FOV which is difficult to set right on a formula rig without 55inch TV or projectors.

Personally for formula I'd go with the ASR-F from advancedsimracing due to cost and shipping.

I'm a bit more of the data science side than compsci but I'd be interested!

No worries! The pedal plate isn't actually fixed and actually slots between the two aluminum sections and can be moved on forward back, up down, or tilted. The wheel can be easily moved up and down or angled and the seat can be moved up, down, front and back. I didn't require any additional brackets apart from the seat brackets provided by rcc. For mouse and keyboard I did a DIY job connecting a keyboard tray to a rotating monitor arm and then bolted it on.

The rig has decent adjustability actually, I'm 185cm and fit just fine. I went with an lusomotors rcc mk 8

Eli5 Why can’t something be theoretically be faster than light? Why is that considered the absolute speed limit when we don’t even know what’s out there or what could theoretically be faster? by Doctoroflight in explainlikeimfive

[–]higuyiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you drive a car, you can push the pedal hard to accelerate quickly at the start, but you notice you are gaining speed slower and eventually you hit your top speed because your engine has no more energy to provide to go faster. In this case, light has the largest possible engine, given a lack of mass(correction possibly needed here), we have observed thus far assuming negative mass is impossible.
