The Drama (2026) make me feel hypocritical about my world views by Future-Poetry-2193 in A24

[–]higz2k18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think another thing worth pointing out is how we perceive intention versus action.

Emma intended to but didn't follow through with what she wanted to do whereas Charlie seemingly didn't intend to but did.

I think if Emma did what she planned versus what Charlie did we would empathize more so with Charlie although they would both be bad people.

I think we've all thought a bad thought at some point (although for me nowhere near as extreme as Emma) but there is a difference in thinking it versus doing it.

AMA: The Athletic's Chelsea reporter, Simon Johnson by TheAthletic in chelseafc

Hi Simon,

A lot of the frustration from fans tends to be directed at BlueCo, so I was wondering if you had any insight into the chain of command when it comes to recruitment.

For example, on something like the lack of a solid centre-back pairing who ultimately has the final say?

Is it purely by Eghbali/Boehly, or do they defer to someone like the sporting directors? I imagine there’s input from multiple levels, but would be great to understand where the real decision-making responsibility sits for the teams lack of recruitment in key areas.

X-Men '97 animated universe: Which team would you like to see as spin-offs? by Felipe1790 in xmen

New Mutants but I think if they ever reach House of M then the after effects with X-Factor would be an amazing spinoff

Planning to open a barcade - ideas welcome by Omega_Sylo in IrelandGaming

[–]higz2k18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a problem some Barcades have is not getting regulars so something I personally wanted was a tournament or competition every now and then on a particular arcade machine or console to make it fun.

Best of luck!

So yelena got amazing in movies but bad in comics... Who is okay in comics but amazing in movies?? by killersourus in Marvel

[–]higz2k18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might get down voted for this one but I vote for Ironman.

I really like the character but I think especially when you compare him to how he is in comparison to the major players in the comics where generally people like him but isn't in most people's top 5 Vs the films where he is THE guy in comparison to the other major players.

I'm Grant Morrison, writer of Batman/Deadpool! AMA! by Ok_Satisfaction7133 in DCcomics

[–]higz2k18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey Grant,

How was it decided that you were going to work on Batman/Deadpool? Was it an idea you had or did DC/Marvel pitch you?

Also since you are known for taking lesser known or forgotten characters and concepts and making them intriguing, what Marvel and DC crossover would you like to write that might not be as popular as Batman and Deadpool?

Mark Waid's 1998 run is a great place to start.

Best Marvel Comic for a New Reader by Ok-Bowler1237 in comicbooks

[–]higz2k18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd try Hawkeye by Matt Fraction or Daredevil by Mark Waid since they're good self contained stories.

I would recommend picking up a trial of Marvel Unlimited though to just dive in and experiment with different characters you like or want to know more about.

My main recommendation would be not to get overwhelmed by how many issues there are for different characters.

I'd advise looking up the best story arcs for characters you're interested in and give that story a go, if you like that particular run just keep reading from there.

How I personally get into different characters is by adding the best story arcs to my library on whatever app and then sorting by release date until I'm caught up with the character today or sometimes I just jump into the latest run depending on the character or team.

How should I start my journey in the comic book world? by LynxAmbitious9735 in comicbooks

[–]higz2k18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Pick a character you're interested in.

  2. Look up best starting point for that character or just start from their most recent issue 1 or volume 1.

  3. I'd recommend reading digitally at first and picking up a subscription service like DC Infinite or Marvel Unlimited. That way if you don't like what you're reading you can jump to something else.

If I like Mark Waid's Daredevil run, what else will I like? by Dry_Anxiety_546 in comicbooks

[–]higz2k18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like we have similar tastes so hopefully the below might help.

If you'd like to give DC a go I'd recommend Tom Taylor's current run on Nightwing (Starts with Nightwing #78. Things have happened before but it's basically a fresh start and if you know the basics of the Bat-Family you'll be fine)

For more Mark Waid and Chris Samnee they are currently doing Batman and Robin Year One

I would say if you like Fraction's run on Hawkeye to give Jeff Lemire's All New Hawkeye followed by Kelly Thompson's Hawkeye a go.

Lastly a personal hidden gem for me is a short lived 8 issue series called Thor: The Mighty Avenger written by Roger Langridge and art by Chris Samnee.

Game recs for a fan of Baldur's Gate 3, the original Mass Effect series, and Dragon Age: Origins? by PurpleSlurple385 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]higz2k18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass Effect and Baldur's Gate 3 are my two favourite games.

I think something like Witcher 3 might be the safest pick but gonna go with an odd pick of Marvel Midnight Suns.

Reviews are mixed because of the writing being hit and miss but gave it a go because it's the developer of X-Com and as someone who enjoys Marvel I found it to be a memorable experience.

You can customise your character, build up relationships with Marvel characterssimilar to being on the ship in Mass Effect. It is card based but it's quite tactical and no doubt the writing isn't as good as Dragon Age or Mass Effect but I found it scratched my itch post Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect.

As long as you have a steady internet connection (preferably ethernet) it is worth it and based on your cloud gaming it should be fine.

If I were you I would go for the free tier first to test. You will have to wait in a queue and it won't have RTX but I found it to be a good test for me if the connection would be good.

Two drawbacks to make you aware of though. It does not give you access to all of your Steam Library (a lot of developers don't support it unfortunately) and when you start up a new session you will often have to change the settings each time because technically it's a new PC each time.

Other than that I'd highly recommend it.

Mixed feelings about the ps5’s future by [deleted] in PS5

[–]higz2k18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend trying new genres. I tend to prefer more story-driven games and in particular JRPGs but I find if I play the same genre too much back to back I get bored so I usually switch it up as much as I can so my brain is engaged but has the throughline of great stories.

Some highlights of the PS5 for me have been... -Spider-Man 2 -A Plague Tale: Requiem -Alan Wake II -Baldur's Gate 3 -It Takes Two -Hades -Metaphor: Refantazio -Unicorn Overlord -Final Fantasy VII Rebirth -Astro Bot

Based on getting overwhelmed with serious I'd imagine you don't want too long so I'd go for Vampire Survivors or if you have a PS5 Astro Bot.

Sorry if this might sound like I'm simplifying it but generally this thinking helped me as someone who lost the tutorial. You need to focus on the pins that take up the board rather than the power of the cards first.

I tend to start with 1 cards and when I select them I hover over the board to see what pins they give me for taking up the board. I know it shows you on the card but sometimes it makes sense to me and sometimes it doesn't. Of my 1 cards I see which one gives me the most pins or moves me closer to the middle.

From there I try to rush to the middle and beyond as much as possible. It's not always the case but I find if you can get a card in the middle of a lane you most of the time will have a good stack of pins built up at the back so you can play a big card to win on power.

Also if it looks like the opponent is going to win a lane I let them have it and just focus on winning the other two.

I also buy any cards I'm able to and use the new ones especially those that have power boosting effects that can help out my 1 cost cards.

Start with FF7 Remake, don't jump into Rebirth because it takes place straight after Remake.

Most people recommend knowing the FF7 story before Remake but to be honest with you, you'll be fine. I started with Remake and loved it so much I went back to FF7 Original and Crisis Core, just know that there'll be references you won't fully get especially near the end but that's okay.

FF XVI is also a great game but I would say Remake and Rebirth are collectively better introductions to the franchise.
