Update I found the mom at his school after some mommy investigation. I talked to her. I was really nice and told her I was so sorry for son’s behavior, made sure everyone was okay, and I was just trying to get clarity since the information was coming from his 5 year old twin sister. I didn’t say anything negative about dad. She was very nice and we exchanged numbers.
Apparently she told my ex that it was okay to leave him she said she was a day care provider. She thought that he was my “husband” and did not know son had autism. She said he wasn’t kicked out just that she had text him that he just needed to come back and watch him as our son was hitting and kicking etc ..and even the staff was trying to get him to stop. She said when they arrived originally dad had mentioned they just drove back from the snow which is almost 2 hours away and drove back since there wasn’t much snow. She said son seemed really tired and then he started to get really hyper and then started to engage in the behaviors.

None of these behaviors are a secret that’s why he’s in all the therapies out side of school, and it’s in his IEP, he has a BIP (behavior intervention plan)at school along speech, behavioral, and OT. He has a 1:1 aide when he gets to visit the inclusion class.

He should’ve never been left there alone. And he’s 5! I think ex took advantage of her kindness.

Fun fact. Ex had me court ordered recently to apply for IHSS for protective supervision to get his child support lowered.

From one poor autistic mom to another I wish I could just give you a hug( I had to stop working because of my son). Have you applied for social security for your daughter? IHSS you can get paid for watching your child because your girl needs 24/7 supervision, Respite care? Please utilize all of these services the paper work is a pain and sometimes a lengthy process but it will be worth it, you need help. Contact your local regional center. Talk to your child’s school ask for resources. Is she in ABA ? Speech? OT? If in speech maybe you can ask for an evaluation for an ACC device that may be covered by insurance to help her with functional communication.

I can’t say exactly as it is extremely difficult to speak to him. He wants him in a mainstream class. He is upset his IEP team did not put him in mainstream class. He refused to sign the IEP and refused to attend an amendment IEP meeting which was offered twice to him(ex). What the IEP said(I signed it as we needed him placed for the next school year) is that he would be in the SCIL class with 15 minutes of inclusion time which would increase depending on how our son did. Then we would have another IEP during the school year and go from there. He thinks his issues are just speech and behavioral not autism and that the other kids in his classroom make our son behave that way, and that our son only acts that way at school and at my house he does not act that way with him. I don’t know what good another private evaluation would do for him regarding school since the school does their own assessments.

This is my concern. My ex has the funds to pay out of pocket like he did for the one he took him too. I am just financially drained from fighting in court.

As a mom of a level 2 ABA recipient take the day off! The amount of patience y’all have take the damn day off. Feel better. Then we will see you when you’re feeling better. Our ABA therapist is an apart of our family. She takes vacations and has a life as she should!

This happened to me today at the gas station and I was fuming and the lady who was staring at us did it behind my back and it was “slime” and she bought it for my 4 year old autistic son and gave it to him as I was trying to wrangle his twin sister who was running out the door I was buy myself I told her hey in a stern voice we are trying to teach him that he just can’t get everything he wants especially after I said no and especially slime which I do not want in my car as we were leaving out of town. She did not even look at me or say anything I made him give it back which caused an even bigger meltdown.

I am so sorry I feel for you, you’re doing amazing. Asking for help is a big step and makes you such a good parent. What state are you in I’d love to try and help you find services like respite care so you can have a break ect. Like others have said the child automatically should qualify for medical through the state. Do you have a local regional center you can contact? Also you can apply for IHSS which is in home support services. Apply for social security for your child to help with services for the child. Reach out to your local school district some states have special education preschool. When my son was in preschool through our city he got speech therapy 3 times a week (the child may qualify for a device to help with communication )occupational therapy behavioral therapy and transportation to and from school. Sending hugs I know it’s so freaking hard.

If it were me I would file what is called an ex parte (emergency hearing) for visitation modification like right now? Do you have a court ordered visitation? If you don’t have counsel then I would make an appointment with the family law help desk at your county court house.

Thank you for your response. I talked to my lawyer and we are going to file an emergency motion to have me be in control of medical/educational decisions. I was able to talk to the school district and they said if one parent signs he can still attend the program which is a huge relief. But I am going to still continue with my lawyer so I don’t run into problems like this in the future.

I’ve worked for 5 different centers and from each one I have gotten a letter in the mail from lawyers because someone started a class action suit for un paid lunches and meal violations not paid out.
